  • Agriculture is one of the most polluting economic activities, affecting the atmosphere, soil and water. For this reason, in the midst of the fight against climate change, a change of model that is committed to sustainability is urgently needed. The alternative is organic farming, which is based on respect for the natural dynamics of ecosystems and is, in short, more respectful of the environment and also healthier.

On July 5, 2021, Europe banned sales of single-use plastics such as drinking straws, cutlery and cotton buds. With almost 90,000 tons of rubbish in the Pacific alone, these, and other similar measures, are sweeping the globe in an attempt to stem the flow of plastic reaching our oceans.

  • The desire to get back in touch with nature and away from overcrowded urban centres has increased since the confinement and restrictions resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. Thus, the phenomenon of counterurbanization or neo-ruralism, i.e. the exodus from the city to the villages in search of healthier and more sustainable lifestyles, has been revitalised around the world.

Is it possible to create buildings that respect the environment right from the drawing board? The answer is "yes", using what is known as bioclimatic architecture. This type of design takes account of the local climate conditions – sun, wind, rain, etc – to reduce a building's environmental impact. Another key aspect is energy efficiency, which is a crucial weapon for fighting climate change.

  • Cities are increasingly committed to sustainability, and urban green corridors play an important role in this process. Briefly, this refers to a strip with a significant presence of vegetation that links outstanding natural areas of the city. In addition, they bring numerous advantages: increasing and protecting biodiversity, mitigating the heat island effect, reducing air and noise pollution, etc.

A weed is any plant of a wild nature that grows in areas controlled by humans, such as crops, orchards or gardens, and whose presence is undesirable. Although they are associated with negative aspects, which we will review below, they also have some advantages, e.g. for the regeneration of biodiversity in cities.
