Iberdrola's Moving for Climate NOW project has been acknowledged as the best outreach initiative in the second Climate Leaders Awards, championed by The Climate Reality Project, for its work in the fight against climate change in Spain.

Moving for Climate NOW is an initiative championed by Iberdrola group, it aims to raise awareness regarding the need for urgent action to combat climate change using all the means at our disposal. It involves an electric cycling ride that takes more than 120 participants from 9 countries and different walks of life to the headquarters of the Climate Change Summit (COP25), which this year is being held in Madrid, under the presidency of Chile.

On receiving his award, Carlos Sallé, Director of the company's Energy Policies and Climate Change, emphasised that this is not only an initiative aimed at asking for greater ambition and urgency in the fight against climate change (SDG 13), but that it also strengthens SDG 17 (partnerships for achieving the goals) — by ensuring the presence of experts from institutions, universities, public administrations, the private sector, young people, etc. —, as well as SDG 5 (gender equality), as over the last few rides gender parity was achieved with respect to the experts taking part.

Sallé was accompanied by members of the UN Global Compact, with whom he shared the award, for supporting the initiative in the previous editions, plus a representative of Ayuda en Acción, an institution that has taken part in a total of three rides.

At the beginning of the ceremony, which was conducted by the actress Sara Escudero, there was a screening of Hacia un planeta verde (Towards a Green Planet), the second documentary against climate change produced by Iberdrola in collaboration with journalist Manuel Campo Vidal.
