Iberdrola continues to enhance its presence in Poland, one of the company’s new growth markets

Iberdrola awards Vestas wind turbine supply contract for Polish project

  • Iberdrola to install 14 x V136 wind turbines, with 3.6 MW unit capacity, at its Korytnica II wind farm, located in the province of Mazowieckie, Northeast of Warsaw.

Iberdrola is advancing its renewable energy footprint in Poland, one of the company’s new growth markets, with a new turbine supply and installation contract signed with Vestas for the Korytnica II windfarm.

The 50.4-MW project, located in Mazowieckie voivodeship, Northeast of Warsaw, will comprise 14 x V126-3.45 MW turbines in 3.6 MW operating mode at a hub height of 132 metres.

Construction will be carried out by civil engineering company CJR renewables, which built Korytnica I (82.5 MW) back in 2015.

Works are set to begin before the end of the year with wind turbine delivery expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2022. The project will be serviced by Vestas under a long-term service agreement.

The production of Korytnica 2 is covered through a corporate PPA with support from Poland’s fourth Contracts for Difference (CfD) auction which took place in June 2021.

With full commissioning of Korytnica II scheduled for the beginning of 2023, Iberdrola’s onshore wind capacity in Poland will then reach 163 MW, including existing operational wind farms Korytnica I (82.5 MW) and Zopowy (30 MW).

Iberdrola is also developing an offshore wind pipeline in Poland that includes seven offshore projects with a potential capacity of up to 7,300 MW.

Green investments to promote economic recovery

For two decades, Iberdrola has been leading the energy transition, acting as a driving force in the green economic recovery, job creation and the transformation of industries.

The company has launched a major €75 billion investment plan for the period 2020-2025 , with the aim of doubling its renewable capacity and seizing the opportunities of the energy revolution facing the world's leading economies.

After twenty years promoting the energy transition, with investments of €120billion euros, Iberdrola is a leader in renewable energy, with an installed capacity of over 37,000 MW, making its generation fleet one of the cleanest in the energy sector.

With emissions of 98 grCO2/kWh, two-thirds lower than the European average, Iberdrola's strategy of investing in clean energy and grids will make it a carbon neutral company in Europe by 2030.
