In 2023, our brand is evolving to better reflect our commitment to the planet and our commitment to digitalisation. As a result, our brand identity is more sustainable, with a logo designed to reduce energy consumption by 50 %. An identity that maintains our essence, reinforcing our association with the values of sustainability.

The Iberdrola brand is the Group's hallmark and the main symbol of our purpose and values. It is as such a key element of our corporate strategy and at the same time a lever for value creation that can be used by all of our companies to contribute to the success of their businesses.

Origins of the Iberdrola brand
- 1901
HIDROELÉCTRICA IBÉRICA was founded in 1901 in Bilbao and stablishes its activity in the Ebro basin.
- 1907
SALTOS DEL DUERO was founded in 1907 and is stablished in the Duero basin.
- 1907
HIDROELÉCTRICA ESPAÑOLA, also known as Hidrola, was founded in 1907 as part of Hidroeléctrica Ibérica to supply Madrid and Valencia.
- 1944
IBERDUERO was born un 1944 from the merger of Hidroeléctrica Ibérica and Saltos del Duero.
- 1945
SALTOS DEL SIL was founded in 1945 and stablished in the basins of the rivers Sil and Bibey.
- 1945
IBERDUERO merged with SALTOS DEL SIL in 1945. The Iberduero name and logo are maintained.
- 1991
IBERDROLA was born in 1991 as IBERDUERO merged with HIDROELÉCTRICA ESPAÑOLA, (Hidrola).
- 1993
IBERDROLA changed the corporate colour of its brand in 1993.
- 2002
In 2002 the “New energy” is born: IBERDROLA changes its brand.
