Disadvantaged groups

Working to promote the holistic development of disadvantaged groups

Social action Corporate social responsibility

The Iberdrola Group is promoting a range of initiatives and projects to facilitate access to energy for economically disadvantaged people and support their social inclusion.

Electricidad para Todos
Through the ‘Electricity for All’ programme, we are bringing electricity to millions of people who do not have access to it.

The Iberdrola Group is committed to social action at a global level, and as such is driving a wide variety of international initiatives and projects that support all of our Stakeholders, with a particular focus on the most vulnerable groups. These are people who, due to their economic, social or personal circumstances, face greater difficulties in accessing basic resources and are therefore at risk of exclusion.

To effectively promote their social inclusion, these programmes focus on different areas, from promoting education and knowledge for future generations and addressing the needs of communities, to encouraging access to electricity as a universal basic good.

Below are some of the programmes through which we put this commitment into practice.

  • Electricity for All programme

    Electricity for All programme

The Electricity for All programme is Iberdrola’s response to the need to extend universal access to modern forms of energy through environmentally sustainable, economically affordable and socially inclusive models. Launched in 2015, the initiative aims to ensure access to electricity in emerging and developing countries, as well as for vulnerable people in developed countries.

As part of this programme, Iberdrola has set a target of providing access to electricity to 16 million people by 2030. To date, the programme has already helped provide access to electricity to 14 million people across different countries in Latin America and Africa.

Our foundations: a driver of social transformation

Through its foundations, Iberdrola is promoting sponsorship and philanthropic activities aimed at preventing, mitigating and compensating for the potential socio-economic impacts of its operations, thereby contributing to the sustainable development of the communities in which it operates. Their work is structured around three main areas: Art and Culture, Social Action and New Technologies, each with a particular focus on vulnerable groups.

Social action

  • This area of activity seeks to contribute to people’s wellbeing through programmes that help reduce social inequalities, working in partnership with third-sector organisations and placing special emphasis on the integration of people from diverse backgrounds.

Art y Culture

  • Through this area of activity, we work to protect artistic and cultural heritage by promoting its conservation and restoration, supporting sustainable local development and improving access to art and culture.

New technologies

  • Through this area of activity, we are analysing the impact of new technologies on society, both through the application of Artificial Intelligence across different fields of work and through the effects of its use on the wider population, with particular attention to the most vulnerable groups.
