We take action for gender equality

Our corporate policy focuses on creating a positive framework for labour relations based on equal opportunities, and one of its fundamental pillars is gender equality, which is embedded across different management areas. Women currently represent less than 20% of the workforce in the traditional energy sector. Iberdrola exceeds this average, with women accounting for 25% of its workforce, and actively works to ensure equal opportunities through a range of initiatives:

  • Promoting inclusive leadership

We guarantee access to professional development opportunities through training and skills development.

  • Awareness and training

We promote a culture of equality and inclusion through training programmes aimed at key groups and recruitment and selection teams, covering topics such as the legislative framework, harassment prevention and unconscious bias, among others.

  • Recruitment and promotion processes

We ensure fairness in recruitment and promotion processes through gender-balanced interview panels.

  • Equitable professional development

We promote career development plans that incorporate both gender and age balance.

  • Encouraging STEM vocations

We develop specific initiatives to encourage STEM vocations among underrepresented groups and younger generations.

  • Promoting scientific careers among young people and students

We encourage scientific careers among young people and students who will become the Group's future talent.

  • Work-life balance measures

We implement measures that support shared family responsibilities under equal conditions for women and men, creating the conditions needed to advance towards parity.

  • Female representation in key positions

We actively work to increase female representation in positions of responsibility as a result of our equal opportunities initiatives.

In 2025, Iberdrola continued to make progress with measurable results: 43% women on the Board of Directors and gender balance among external directors (50% women and 50% men). What’s more, women held 31.1% of leadership positions, compared with 28.9% in 2024. Iberdrola also ensures that recruitment, hiring, training and promotion processes – including those using artificial intelligence – are free from bias and guarantee the traceability and transparency of results.
