Avangrid, a subsidiary of the Iberdrola Group in the United States, has completed the installation of more than 250,000 solar panels for the Tower Solar project in Morrow County, Oregon. The panels were assembled by SEG Solar at its new factory in Houston, Texas.
The plant, with a total installed capacity of 120 MWac, is expected to come online later this year. It will supply electricity to the Portland General Electric (PGE) grid and support a new QTS data center campus in the region.
Construction of the project created more than 200 jobs, most of them filled by local workers. In addition, the project, located on industrial land at the Port of Morrow, is expected to generate approximately $20 million in economic contributions, which will help fund public services, including education.
