Iberdrola España, Iberdrola's subsidiary in the country, has commissioned its photovoltaic plant in Ciudad Rodrigo, the company's second in the province of Salamanca and one of the largest in Castile and León. With a 316 MW capacity, it will produce clean energy to supply more than 155,000 homes, representing 75,000 fewer tonnes of CO₂ a year.
The farm, which is part of the partnership with Norges Bank, is located on 439 hectares between Valdecarros and the Torralba mountain range. It has more than 460,000 photovoltaic modules and required an investment of €200M. It created 800 jobs during peak construction periods.
With its investment in renewable energy, Iberdrola is not only committed to the future of the environment, but also sets an example of coexistence, undertaking initiatives to conserve the biodiversity of ecosystems by caring for plants and wildlife and to support cultural heritage and rural Spain’s development.
