Avangrid, a subsidiary of the Iberdrola Group in the United States, has launched a new instalment of the EMPOWERED campaign, an initiative that showcases how renewable energy projects contribute to the economic and social development of the communities in which it operates.
The new episode focuses on Alamosa, Colorado, where the San Luis solar project, operational since 2011, contributes to the region’s electricity supply, supports local employment and bolsters the county’s tax base.
The campaign, launched by Avangrid in 2024, highlights the role of renewable energy as a driver of progress in rural areas of the United States. Through local testimonials, EMPOWERED demonstrates how the Iberdrola Group’s investments in renewable generation not only help to electrify homes and businesses, but also promote job creation, economic growth and the strengthening of communities.
The EMPOWERED series, which has already highlighted projects in states such as Illinois, New Mexico, Ohio, Oregon and Washington, has been recognised with several Telly Awards for its ability to bring the social and economic impact of renewable energy to life through real-life stories.
