Iberdrola awards new contracts to Ingeteam and Ormazabal worth €30 million

Iberdrola is continuing to strengthen its ties with the Basque industrial sector through new contract awards to leading companies such as Ingeteam and Ormazabal. The contracts were discussed at today's meeting of the company's Executive Committee of the Board of Directors in Bilbao.

The Group has awarded Ingeteam contracts worth €25 million for work on battery energy storage systems (BESS) linked to renewable energy facilities in Spain. This technology is playing an increasingly important role in the electricity system, enabling greater integration of renewable energy while providing additional flexibility to the grid.

Iberdrola has also awarded Ormazabal a contract worth almost €5 million for the design, manufacture and supply of two mobile substations to enhance the operational capacity of the electricity network. The equipment will strengthen the network's ability to respond to maintenance work, operational incidents and exceptional demand requirements.

The new mobile substations have been designed to provide temporary support to network operations and help maintain continuity of supply under a range of operating conditions. The project is aligned with Iberdrola's objective of strengthening the resilience of electricity networks and equipping them with the capabilities needed to respond to an increasingly demanding and dynamic environment.

Ingeteam and Ormazabal bring technological expertise and specialist know-how in key areas that are helping to advance electrification. These contracts form part of initiatives to modernise and strengthen electricity networks and expand energy storage capacity, both of which are essential to building a more self-sufficient, secure and competitive electricity system that is fit for the challenges of the future.

The contracts will also support the involvement of Basque industrial suppliers in major electricity infrastructure projects and further strengthen a value chain capable of meeting future challenges. In addition, they underline the importance of continuing to invest in backup technologies that help ensure a reliable, high-quality electricity supply and improve network reliability, a key factor in supporting the continued growth of electrification.
