SP Energy Networks, the distribution business of ScottishPower, subsidiary of the Iberdrola Group in UK, is leading a tree-planting programme across Scotland in partnership with The Tree Council. Backed by funding of around €580,000, the initiative aims to enhance natural spaces, boost biodiversity and deliver long-term benefits for local communities.
One of the projects supported through the programme has been developed in partnership with Inverclyde Shed and Clydeview Academy in Gourock. It has seen the creation of a community orchard featuring 132 fruit trees, transforming a local area into a long-lasting community asset that will provide opportunities for growing food, learning, connecting with nature and bringing people together for decades to come.
The project also has a strong educational and social focus, providing a space for future workshops, community activities and ongoing maintenance programmes.
Through initiatives like this, the Iberdrola Group continues to support projects that protect nature, enhance biodiversity and help build more sustainable and resilient communities.
