Iberdrola’s Executive Chairman Ignacio Galán attends gala dinner with the King and Queen of Spain during their state visit to Finland

Ignacio Galán, Iberdrola’s Executive Chairman, attended the gala dinner held to mark Their Majesties the King and Queen of Spain’s state visit to Finland. His presence reflects the importance Iberdrola has acquired in the Nordic country, where the acquisition of the country’s largest electricity distributor will make Iberdrola the leading Spanish investor, accounting for 90% of total investment, and a key player in the development of the electricity infrastructure underpinning the electrification of the Finnish economy.

Last summer, Iberdrola announced the acquisition of Caruna in a deal valued at close to €5 billion. Through this acquisition, Iberdrola is expanding into one of Europe’s most advanced and innovative economies, with an AA+ credit rating and an especially attractive environment for electrification.

The deal puts Iberdrola at the heart of one of the continent’s fastest-growing technology ecosystems, as Caruna operates in Espoo and the Helsinki metropolitan area, a major European hub for artificial intelligence, quantum computing, data analytics and data centres.
