Iberdrola's Executive Chairman, Ignacio Galán, has met with more than 300 professionals from across the Group to share his vision of the company's global leadership and the significant growth opportunities arising from increasing electricity demand and the progress of electrification.
Held under the slogan Proudly Connected, the event took place at Iberdrola's Innovation and Training Campus in San Agustín del Guadalix, Madrid. It highlighted the connections between teams, businesses and countries, as well as the role of people in the 'Age of Electricity', as described by the International Energy Agency (IEA).
The meeting coincides with Iberdrola's 125th anniversary and comes at a particularly significant time for the company, which has become the world's largest electricity company by market capitalisation during the year.
Galán discussed the opportunities arising from this new energy landscape with attendees, as well as the need to accelerate investment in networks, generation and storage to strengthen energy security and independence, competitiveness and sustainability.
The results for the first nine months of the year, presented a few weeks ago, underpin this growth potential. Iberdrola expects adjusted net profit to increase at an average annual rate of 10% over the next five years, regulated assets in networks to exceed €90 billion by 2030 and 15,000 MW of new capacity to be added between 2025 and 2030.
