Neoenergia drives access to solar energy in vulnerable communities in Brazil

Neoenergia Elektro, a distributor for Neoenergia, a subsidiary of the Iberdrola Group in Brazil, launched 202 solar installations between January and July of this year in educational centres, hospitals, health centres and low-income family homes, benefiting more than 83,500 people.

The initiative involved an investment of around €480,000 and adds a total installed capacity of 605.8 kWp.

The energy generated by these installations is enough to power up to 370 properties for one year, contributing to expanding access to cleaner, more sustainable energy in the communities where the company operates. The project was developed through Neoenergia Elektro's Energy Efficiency Programme, regulated by the Brazilian National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL).

In addition to promoting distributed renewable generation, the programme encourages the efficient and responsible use of energy. To this end, the beneficiary families will receive training on conscious energy consumption, reinforcing the commitment of Iberdrola and Neoenergia to the energy transition, emissions reduction and the creation of social value in the communities in which it operates.
