ScottishPower Renewables, the Iberdrola Group's UK renewables' subsidiary, has completed a pioneering subsea engineering operation at the East Anglia TWO offshore wind farm, by installing two ducts almost 1,800 metres long.
Both ducts will provide a protected route for the subsea export cables that will carry the renewable electricity generated by the wind farm to shore. The work is an engineering milestone and will minimise the impact on the coast and the natural environment during the development of the project.
With a capacity of up to 960 MW and an investment of approximately €4.7 billion, East Anglia TWO will be able to supply renewable energy equivalent to the consumption of almost one million homes. The wind farm will be located in the southern North Sea and is progressing towards commercial operation at the end of 2028.
To date, the project has generated an economic impact of approximately €1.8 billion in the UK supply chain, contributing to the development of the offshore wind industry and the advance of electrification with clean energy.
