SP Energy Networks, distributor for ScottishPower, the Iberdrola Group subsidiary in the UK, has begun deploying a new electric vehicle charging technology at three of its operational centres in the country.
The company has collaborated with technology firm TUAL to install its PowerUp Charger system. This solution combines battery energy storage with continuous high-power charging, enabling ultra-fast recharges without the need for major infrastructure works or network upgrades.
The technology is specifically designed for operational environments where there are space or electrical capacity constraints. In addition to facilitating fleet electrification, it also provides greater flexibility thanks to its relocation capability and improves operational resilience by incorporating energy storage that helps keep vehicles available even during power outages.
This project is part of SP Energy Networks' broader strategy to incorporate innovative technologies that reduce emissions from its activities, while ensuring reliability and access to sustainable mobility for the whole of society.
