SP Energy Networks strengthens its flexibility markets with the new ElectronConnect platform

ScottishPower Energy Networks, the distribution business of ScottishPower, a subsidiary of the Iberdrola Group in the UK, completed its transition to ElectronConnect a few weeks ago. This new market platform is designed to manage and procure grid flexibility services.

The change, effective from 31 March 2026, forms part of the company’s efforts to promote solutions that facilitate the integration of renewable energy and the electrification of demand. It also aims to make it easier for service providers to participate and to support the continued growth of these markets.

ElectronConnect has been developed in collaboration with flexibility service providers and is designed to enable their participation across all SP Energy Networks flexibility markets.

The platform incorporates automation and user experience enhancements to simplify both access to and operation within the market, from registration and asset management to bid submission, thereby contributing to more efficient system operation.
