Sphere Energy Connect, ScottishPower's new independent network operator, obtains distribution licence from Ofgem

Sphere Energy Connect, the new independent distribution network operator of ScottishPower, a subsidiary of the Iberdrola Group in the United Kingdom, has reached a key milestone with the granting of a licence by the UK regulator, Ofgem. Through a customer-focused proposal designed to facilitate commercial relations, the new company continues to move towards full operation.

This initiative, which aims to complement ScottishPower's comprehensive electricity offering, arose from the Group's Her Energy programme to promote and raise the profile of female leadership through high-impact business projects. Since then, Sphere Energy Connect has been established as a new legal entity, with a dedicated team of ScottishPower professionals, including three members of the original team.

Sphere will focus on the last mile of the electrical network, a crucial segment that closes the circuit of the UK's electrical network by covering the final stretch from the distribution infrastructure connecting local transformer stations or substations to the point of electricity consumption.
