Iberdrola to invest more than €11m to upgrade East Anglia port infrastructure

Iberdrola, through its UK renewable energy subsidiary, and Peel Ports Group will invest more than €11 million in the Port of East Anglia, in Great Yarmouth, to support the construction of the East Anglia TWO offshore wind farm, valued at over €4.5 billion.

The investment will fund a major upgrade to the port’s North Terminal. The works will include building a second heavy-lift platform at the North Terminal, where turbine towers will be preassembled before being loaded onto the installation vessel; expanding and improving storage areas to accommodate larger components; and enabling the use of higher-capacity cranes.
What’s more, this new project will bring ScottishPower’s total investment with local East Anglia businesses to over €70 million in the past five years.

The East Anglia TWO wind farm will feature 64 turbines with a combined capacity of up to 960 MW of green electricity – enough to power the equivalent of nearly one million homes.
