Iberdrola awards Ayesa Digital the contract to support its IT infrastructure in Spain, the US and the UK

Iberdrola has awarded the Basque company Ayesa Digital the contract for systems infrastructure support services for its operations in Spain, the United States and the United Kingdom. The agreement makes the Basque Country-based technology firm the Group’s main global provider of these services.

The contract will secure more than 170 jobs for five years and forms part of Iberdrola’s strategy to modernise its platforms in order to support its various businesses efficiently and reliably. The contract covers technical support services, the evolution and development of new solutions in IT environments – both in the cloud and on-premises – and incorporates greater use of automation and artificial intelligence.

With this contract award, Iberdrola is reinforcing its strategy for digital transformation and making progress in modernising its technological infrastructure, which is key to supporting the growth of its businesses in strategic markets such as the United States and the United Kingdom, as well as in Spain.

Iberdrola was already working closely with Ayesa as a partner in digitalisation and artificial intelligence, developing data, automation and AI solutions to accelerate the Group’s digital transformation

Ayesa Digital is a Basque company with a presence in Europe and Latin America and more than 11,000 professionals. It specialises in the design, integration and operation of digital platforms for large organisations, combining expertise in artificial intelligence, data, cybersecurity, application development, cloud and automation.

This contract award is further evidence of Iberdrola’s commitment to the Basque business community. Over the last five years, the company has allocated more than 8,400 million euros to purchases from Basque suppliers, an activity that supports more than 30,000 jobs across its entire value chain in the Basque Country. Furthermore, since 2021, Iberdrola has contributed more than 4,000 million euros to the Basque public coffers, 90 per cent of which has been in Bizkaia.
