Iberdrola España, a subsidiary of the Iberdrola Group in Spain, has launched the seventh edition of the Iberdrola Supera Awards, an initiative that recognises and promotes projects aimed at advancing equality through sport.
The main new feature of this edition is the introduction of two additional categories: Supera Salud y Bienestar, focused on initiatives that enhance physical and mental health through sporting activity, and Supera Veteranas, which recognises projects that encourage participation and competition among adult women. These categories join the existing ones, which span grassroots sport, competition, inclusion, social integration, and the promotion and development of women’s sport in rural areas.
Projects will be evaluated by leading figures from the worlds of sport and media, and each category will carry a prize of €50,000, bringing the total prize fund to €400,000. The previous edition received 1,300 applications, adding to the more than 5,300 proposals Iberdrola has received since the awards were launched in 2020.
Since 2016, Iberdrola España has been the main driving force behind women’s sport. Over the past decade, it has helped increase female participation across the 35 federations it supports by more than 80%, to nearly 820,000 members.
