Iberdrola pays tribute to Carolina Marín, an international badminton icon

Iberdrola España, a subsidiary of the Iberdrola Group in Spain, together with Huelva City Council and the Andalusian Badminton Federation, paid tribute in Huelva to the career and legacy of badminton champion Carolina Marín, at the first public event following the announcement of her retirement from professional sport.

Regarded as one of the leading figures in Spanish sport and a global icon in her discipline, Carolina Marín boasts an outstanding list of achievements: Olympic gold at Rio 2016, three-time world champion and seven-time European champion, amongst other accomplishments. Beyond her titles, her career has been marked by her resilience and her role as an inspiration to new generations.

Carolina Marín has been part of the Iberdrola Ambassadors programme since 2016 and sits on the jury of honour for the Iberdrola Supera Awards, initiatives aligned with the company’s commitment to equality in sport as a lever for social transformation.
