Iberdrola’s Executive Chairman, Ignacio Galán, has held his traditional meeting with the lehendakari (Basque regional president), Imanol Pradales, at the Lehendakaritza headquarters in Vitoria ahead of the General Shareholders’ Meeting.
Galán conveyed the company’s strong commitment to the Basque Country and explained the main effects of the Group’s activity in the region. The combined impact on employment, economic activity and tax revenues reflects Iberdrola’s role as a key player in the economic, industrial and social development of the Basque Country.
Over the last five years, Iberdrola has allocated more than €8.4 billion to purchases from Basque suppliers, reinforcing its role as a driving force for the local productive fabric.
As a result of its activity, the Group has supported more than 30,000 quality jobs throughout its value chain in the Basque Country. The company has therefore consolidated its position as a key player in boosting the Basque labour market, with a sustained contribution throughout the 2021-2025 period in both the volume and quality of jobs created.
Since 2021, Iberdrola has contributed more than €4 billion to the Basque public finances.
