Ignacio Galán participates in the World Economic Forum's group of leaders for growth and competitiveness in Europe

Ignacio Galán, chairman of Iberdrola, took part in the latest World Economic Forum meeting in Brussels, where the Leaders for Growth and Competitiveness in Europe initiative was launched with the support of 60 leaders from the public and private sectors, civil society and expert organisations, following discussions held during the Annual Meeting in Davos last January.

One of the key topics discussed during the meeting was the opportunities offered by electrification for the EU's strategic autonomy, competitiveness, industrial development, job creation and decarbonisation. In this regard, the importance of electricity grid infrastructure and its role in ensuring supply, enabling the connection of new demand and integrating indigenous renewable resources across Europe was highlighted. It was also stressed that clear and stable policy and regulatory frameworks will be needed to encourage the necessary investment.

On this issue, Ignacio Galán pointed out that electrification is a key driver of European growth and competitiveness. Investing in clean energy, networks and storage can lead to greater strategic autonomy, greater security of supply, more industrial development and more jobs, while contributing to environmental objectives.
