The last UN Climate Change Conference (COP25) was held from 2 to 13 December in Madrid (Spain), under the presidency of Chile. That time, discussions were focused on climate and energy scenarios that will help to keep global temperatures from rising more than 1.5 ºC. This is the equivalent of achieving global net-zero CO2 emissions by mid-21st century, an objective with which Iberdrola group — one of the official sponsors — is fully aligned.
World Environment Day 2025, which is celebrated annually on 5 June, is part of the United Nations Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, a global initiative to prevent, stop and repair damage to degraded ecosystems all over the world. Totally aligned with this objective, Iberdrola Group is working to conserve healthy ecosystems in all its areas of influence.

At a time when its focus has moved from climate action to how to tackle reconstruction post COVID-19, this year's New York Climate Week (September 21 - 27) was concentrating on the lessons we can learn from the current situation to help us move towards a carbon neutral future by way of a fair transition. Iberdrola group, worldwide benchmark in the fight against climate change, approached this summit convinced that the only way forward with respect to recovery is the green way and committed to developing a more robust, sustainable and resilient economy.
New York City hosted the 16th edition of Climate Week (22–29 September) under the theme, It's Time. As in previous editions, the event served as a platform for connection and dissemination, focusing on the fulfilment of climate goals and the need to increase the commitments made by companies, governments and organisations.
