Iberdrola Mexico signs a PPA with Alstom to drive its commitment to sustainability

Iberdrola Mexico, a country-based company, has installed photovoltaic panels at Alstom's plant in Sahagún, helping Alstom, a world leader in smart and sustainable mobility, take a major step towards implementing its sustainability strategy. This new installation, built on Alstom's third largest plant in the world, offers a production capacity of 583 kWh, which will generate around 1,220 MWh of energy per year, i.e. 16.8% of the plant's total energy consumption. The 1,080 photovoltaic panels installed cover more than 15,000 m2.

This is the first photovoltaic plant at Alstom's facilities in the Americas. The project was developed under a power purchase agreement (PPA), under which Iberdrola Mexico, through its Smart Solar service, will operate the facility for 20 years, while Alstom will consume the energy produced. The clean energy generated is estimated to reduce CO2 emissions by 0.43 tonnes per MWh.
