ScottishPower Energy Networks, the distribution arm of ScottishPower, a subsidiary of the Iberdrola Group in the United Kingdom, has secured Ofgem approval for early funding of around €173 million (£150 million) for two strategic electricity transmission projects in Scotland.
This decision supports the development of key infrastructure to accelerate electrification, strengthen system resilience and facilitate the integration of more renewable energy into the British energy mix.
The Tealing to Kincardine Upgrade Project (TKUP) and Denny to Wishaw Network Upgrade (DWNO) are part of the ASTI (Accelerated Strategic Transmission Investment) regulatory framework, designed to drive priority investment in electricity networks across Great Britain, and are included in the company's RIIO-T3 plan. Both developments will increase the capacity of the transmission network and modernise essential infrastructure to meet growing electricity demand and support the electrification targets set out in the Clean Power 2030 plan.
Through this investment in infrastructure, Iberdrola reinforces its commitment to a cleaner, more efficient energy model that is better equipped to meet future energy needs.
