Neoenergia, Iberdrola's subsidiary in Brazil, has been recognised with the Ibero-American Quality Award in the Gold category for its high operational standards and the performance of its five distributors. The award is a project attached to the Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government, coordinated by SEGIB (Ibero-American General Secretariat) and managed by FUNDIBEQ (Ibero-American Foundation for Quality Management).
Eduardo Capelastegui, CEO of Neoenergia, collected the award at a ceremony held in the Assembly Hall of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) in Madrid, Spain. This is the first time in the 26 editions of the Ibero-American Quality Award that a business group has been honoured, as Neoenergia received the distinction together with its five distributors. With more than 16,000 employees, Neoenergia also becomes the largest organisation to obtain it.
The Ibero-American Quality Award, which reinforces the Group's commitment to responsible management, aligned with social impact and sustainability, is the highest distinction awarded in the region to public and private organisations.
The evaluation of the candidates is carried out through the Ibero-American Model of Excellence in Management, which integrates key aspects such as innovation, digitalisation, sustainability and risk management. Since its creation in 1999, this award has established itself as a mark of international prestige.
At the same ceremony, Iberdrola Mexico received an award, also in the Gold category, for DestElla, a social programme that promotes the development and empowerment of girls and women through sport. Since its launch in 2024, the programme has benefited more than 8,500 participants. Katya Somohano, CEO of Iberdrola Mexico, collected the award.
The Iberdrola Group has already been recognised in previous editions of the Ibero-American Quality Award. In 2014 and 2016, the distributor Neoenergia Elektro was awarded in the Gold category. In 2019 and 2021, Iberdrola Mexico won the Silver category and in 2024 it won the Gold category.
