Iberdrola España , Iberdrola's subsidiary in Spain, was responsible for installing the 990 solar panels, the 5 electric vehicle charging points and the battery system, which has a storage capacity of 216 kWh. Schneider has also successfully converted its Molins de Rei, Barcelona plant into a Zero CO2 factory, hitting 100% of its decarbonisation targets. A microgrid takes advantage of storage and self-consumption to manage energy and use it when it’s most needed. The microgrid will control distributed resources to reduce its operating costs, increase its installation’s resilience and be more sustainable. Iberdrola is developing the ‘Microgrids as a Service’ concept, including solar, batteries and energy management software to help its customers get the most out of decarbonisation processes. This project is financed by the call for subsidies for new business model projects in the energy transition through the Institute for Energy Diversification and Savings (IDAE) under the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan – Funded by the European Union – Next GenerationEU.
