10/06/2025 - 17:07 UTC +02:00The Aldeatejada Technology Innovation Centre: an example of economic revitalisation in Salamanca The Technology Innovation Centre (Cenit), inaugurated in 2008 by Iberdrola in collaboration with IBM, has consolidated Aldeatejada (in Salamanca, western Spain) as one of the main technology hubs in the area thanks to its economic and social impact on the region. Aldeatejada is the best example of Iberdrola's firm commitment to innovation and represents a real commitment to the future, progress and competitiveness of the economy of Castile and León, with a cumulative investment of close to €300 million and the creation of more than 1,000 direct jobs and 1,850 indirect jobs. This enclave has undergone a remarkable evolution in technological capabilities, including artificial intelligence , cloud services, cybersecurity, automation, digital experience and business solutions, becoming a key pillar of the digital transformation of Iberdrola and other international companies. The Cenit model has had a powerful knock-on effect in the province, attracting new technology companies, generating synergies with local universities and promoting research and training initiatives, demonstrating that sustained investment in digital infrastructure, together with strategic alliances between large companies, public administrations and the education system, generates tangible benefits for the region. This Iberdrola project has transformed the municipality into an inclusive, resilient and internationally-oriented innovation ecosystem. Iberdrola is currently the market leader in the development of data centres , marketing more than 10 TWh to technology companies and data centre operators worldwide. Spain has significant potential in Europe for the development of data centres, thanks to its strategic geographical position, which has consolidated its status as the gateway for global data to the continent. It has also recently set up the company CPD4Green, which leverages its assets, capacity and experience to facilitate the development of sustainable data centres. CPD4Green has secured more than 700 megawatts (MW) in Spain and has a potential portfolio of another 5,000 MW. You can read the full story in Iberdrola Spain's Media Room . READ MORE

06/06/2025 - 14:03 UTC +02:00ScottishPower continues to advance research into the electrification of offshore wind operations in the United Kingdom Studies commissioned by ScottishPower Renewables, the renewable energy subsidiary of the Iberdrola Group in the United Kingdom , reveal that offshore recharging of battery-powered vessels for offshore wind maintenance operations could be viable in future wind farms. The reports—by MJR Power & Automation and Oasis Marine—are the latest in a series of three studies exploring options for decarbonizing and reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from offshore wind farm operations. The studies consolidate initial findings that the electrification of offshore operations is technically feasible using battery-powered service operation vessels (E-SOVs). The potential for decarbonizing offshore operations using electric crew transfer vessels (CTVs) that could be used for wind farms located closer to shore was also assessed, and the results confirmed that this is technically and operationally feasible. In both cases, wind farms will benefit environmentally and economically, with significant reductions in both greenhouse gas emissions and fuel costs. 05/06/2025 - 13:07 UTC +02:00Iberdrola presents more than 150 use cases for artificial intelligence at the eleventh edition of the Digital Summit Iberdrola 's corporate campus in San Agustín del Guadalix, Madrid was the setting for the company's 11th Digital Summit, an event which, over the years, has established itself as a unique space to exchange knowledge and experiences in digitalisation and innovation. With the Digital Summit, the company promotes the digital culture, gives visibility to its key projects in this area and inspires all its employees to continue growing in R&D&I The theme chosen for this year's event was 'AI Momentum'. This year's conference focused on a disruptive and topical subject: artificial intelligence (AI). To address it, Iberdrola invited top-level speakers from both the electricity sector and other areas and companies, such as Esade, EY, Accenture, Ecoembes, DXC Technology, Caixabank, Enatic, Holcim and Ohla. These experts gave their vision on the use of AI, while addressing key issues in how this technology is applied, such as ethics, regulation, innovation and new trends. Iberdrola has been using AI for more than 10 years to make predictions, optimise processes and detect patterns applicable to its daily operations. In fact, the company has several use cases in Spain. Renewable energies and electricity grids are some of the areas in which it is applying this technology. AI provides solutions for clean energy, too. It does so to maximise the use of wind and sun to produce electricity, with applications ranging from the design phase of an installation, predicting the optimal location of a wind turbine, to operation and maintenance, with the use of algorithms that anticipate issues before they occur thanks to the advanced analysis of millions of data points, or the prediction of wind or solar production for each hour of the day and in each plate and wind turbine of Iberdrola's plants around the world. It is also used to protect birdlife by means of systems capable of detecting birds within five kilometres of the wind farm and stopping the corresponding wind turbines to avoid any risk. With regard to electricity grids, Iberdrola puts AI applications at the service of its customers through an algorithm capable of providing an accurate estimate of the time they won’t have electricity in the event of an incident. This technology also allows its teams to plan which grids or transformation centres will need partial replacements the following year, thanks to the use of 100 variables that predict possible issues based on six years of historical data. Iberdrola is also exploring AI to optimise the location of backup batteries to help remedy possible grid incidents and to identify, with satellites associated with the technology, the volume of vegetation that needs to be cleared, as well as to estimate that vegetation’s growth and assess whether work has been carried out correctly. Responsible AI Iberdrola, in short, seeks to strengthen its position as a benchmark in the integration of AI into the energy sector by implementing solutions that transform its processes to drive operational excellence, improve customer and employee experience and transition towards a cleaner and more accessible energy model for all. However, it wants to achieve this by developing and implementing responsible AI technologies that respect its policies and ethical principles. Last September, the company announced its adherence to the commitments of the European Commission's AI Pact, an initiative that promotes its ethical and responsible application. Even so, the company has been progressively adopting proactive measures, ahead of the deadlines established in the EU AI Act. Iberdrola has had a corporate AI policy in line with the new regulation and approved by the board for a year now, including the registration of AI models and solutions with their risk assessments and the alignment of its practices with a common global framework. In addition, two years ago it launched a Global AI Centre, which plays a key role in ensuring secure technology platforms, implementing measures to guarantee responsible AI and fostering innovation. In February of this year, Iberdrola became the first company to certify its Artificial Intelligence Management System (SGIA) with AENOR, becoming the first business to achieve this accreditation in accordance with the international standard ISO/IEC 42001. This recognition highlights the correct implementation and use of artificial intelligence at Iberdrola Clientes and Iberdrola Energía España , companies that are part of Iberdrola, underlining its commitment to innovation, efficiency and ethics. Acknowledgements This year the company wanted to recognise the work of digitalisation, which was key during the cold drop. Thanks to the Spectrum control system, the grid assets could be managed with high levels of automation and operability, improving the quality of supply, reducing the risk of accidents in facilities, as well as the emissions of our fleet by allowing remote grid operation. During the cold drop, these control systems and the associated telecommunications systems enabled the operation and monitoring teams to work in perfect coordination. The Spectrum Control System handled a huge volume of data associated with the simultaneous events during the disaster without disruption, proving its robustness and allowing the control centre to do its job. Digitisation has also been key to getting service back online and safe operations in a record time of 20 hours. This achievement not only demonstrates the efficiency of the technologies, but also the team’s commitment and dedication to overcoming challenges and maintaining excellence in our operations. 30/05/2025Shareholders overwhelmingly support Iberdrola's management at its General Meeting At Iberdrola's General Shareholders' Meeting , held today at Torre Iberdrola, in Bilbao, the group's Executive Chairman, Ignacio Galán , received massive shareholder support for his management and the electrification strategy that the company pioneered more than 20 years ago. The Meeting, with an attendance quorum of more than 75,55%, has approved all the proposals for agreement included in the agenda with an average of votes in favour of 99,4%. Ignacio Galán reaffirmed the company's commitment to value creation: "2024 has been a new record year, thanks to our vision and strategy with which we are providing solutions to the great challenges of the sector while generating wealth, industrial development and employment in the countries where we are present and a lot of value for shareholders." Record results, shareholder remuneration and value creation Thanks to the €17 billion invested in electricity and renewable grids in 2024, the company has further promoted the electrification of the economy and energy autonomy, thus fostering competitiveness and employment worldwide. This effort has allowed Iberdrola to exceed 160,000 million euros in assets and increase net profit by 17%, reaching 5,612 million euros in 2024. With these results, the General Shareholders' Meeting – at the proposal of the Board of Directors – has approved an increase in the dividend by 15% compared to the dividend paid in 2024, to €0.635 per share. This amount is made up of the €0.231 gross per share already paid last January, plus another €0.404 gross per share that would be distributed next July. In addition to this shareholder remuneration, there will also be an engagement dividend of €0.005 gross per share, after having reached a quorum of 70% of the share capital at the Shareholders' Meeting. As a result of the Group's growth and financial strength, Iberdrola's share price is at an all-time high, already consolidated as the leading electricity company in Europe and one of the two largest in the world by capitalisation, with more than 103,000 million euros. Since the arrival of Ignacio Galán in 2001, the share price has gone from 3.5 euros to over 16 euros per share, with a value creation of around 90,000 million euros. In addition to this revaluation, 7.7 euros of shares distributed as dividends are added. As a result, a shareholder who has reinvested his dividends over these twenty years, as most capital does, will have seen his investment multiplied by almost 14 times. Social commitment Galán emphasised that these positive results have been accompanied by a new boost to the commitment to society in all its areas: Iberdrola has continued to increase its purchases to reach 18,000 million euros from its thousands of suppliers in 2024, giving visibility and certainty to a supply chain in which it supports nearly 500,000 jobs worldwide. In addition, last year the company made 6,000 additions – 2,100 from the British ENW, integrated in 2024 – which exceeds 44,000 workers. In 2024, Iberdrola has increased its contribution to the public coffers by 8%, to more than 10,300 million euros. Spain is the country in which it contributes the most with 4,300 million, 14% more than its tax contribution in 2023. Electrification is unstoppable During the presentation, Ignacio Galán reviewed the company's enormous growth prospects thanks to its commitment to electrification: "Our pioneering vision and our successful execution have positioned us as a leader in a sector that will face an extraordinary growth stage in the coming years, as new technological advances make electrification an unstoppable process." He also highlighted the Group's international diversification, especially in the United States and the United Kingdom, its commitment to electricity grids as a vector of growth and its financial strength. Composition of the Council Shareholders have also massively supported the re-election of Ángel Jesús Acebes Paniagua and Juan Manuel González Serna and the ratification and re-election of Ana Colonques García-Planas as an independent director, who joined the Board of Directors last December, as well as maintaining the number of Board members at 14. With these proposals, the structure of the Board is given continuity, with 2 executive members and 12 external members, of which 92% are considered independent. "Due to our governance model, values and trajectory of economic growth and social contribution, we face the future with optimism" Ignacio Galán, Executive Chairman of Iberdrola. READ MORE
