17/09/2025 - 17:01 UTC +02:00Avangrid invests €200 million in the modernisation of two substations in New York State Avangrid, the US subsidiary of the Iberdrola Group , through its subsidiary New York State Electric & Gas (NYSEG), has begun modernisation works at the South Perry substation, located in Wyoming County, and at the Meyer substation in Dansville, both in New York State. The modernisation works are part of Avangrid’s €18.6 billion investment plan in electricity networks in the United States to upgrade critical grid infrastructure through to 2030, with the aim of meeting growing electricity demand and protecting communities from extreme weather events. The works at the South Perry substation, valued at more than €75 million, involve replacing infrastructure that is several decades old and will increase the reliability of electricity supply for more than 8,500 local customers. In addition, Avangrid will invest more than $113 million in the modernisation of the Meyer substation, which will enhance energy capacity, grid resilience and supply reliability for approximately 6,740 customers in the town of Dansville and nearby communities through its distribution lines. Europrivacy is the first certification system approved by the European Data Protection Board (EDPB) to act as an official European Data Protection Seal, in accordance with Article 42.5 of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). It is recognised by all Member States of the European Union (EU) and the European Economic Area (EEA). Europrivacy certification has been awarded to Iberdrola Clientes España, Curenergía and Iberdrola Clientes Portugal for personal data processing in digital contracting processes, including browsing the corporate website, interacting with the chatbot and email communications. This seal certifies that, in the context of the certification assessment objectives, the organisations meet the highest standards for protecting the rights and freedoms of individuals in the processing of their personal data. This recognition underlines Iberdrola's commitment to its customers’ privacy, ensuring that their data is processed with the utmost security, transparency and responsibility, as part of a responsible, ethical and rights-respecting digital strategy. Commitment to privacy The Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD in Spanish) has recently renewed the extension of the Iberdrola Group's Binding Corporate Rules (BCRs), strengthening the company's commitment to consistent and rigorous privacy management in all the countries where it operates. 11/09/2025 - 07:02 UTC +02:00Iberdrola, to reach 84% of Neoenergia’s share capital in Brazil after the purchase of PREVI’s stake for 1.88 billion euros Iberdrola has reached an agreement to acquire the stake of Caixa de Previdência dos Funcionários do Banco do Brasil (“PREVI”) in Neoenergia , reinforcing its position as majority stakeholder. The transaction contemplates the purchase of PREVI’s 30,29% stake in Neoenergia, so that Iberdrola will control 84% of the company’s share capital, approximately. The price agreed, 32.5 Brazilian reails per share, will imply a cash consideration of 11.95 BRL billion – around 1.88 billion euros. The transaction is subject to the applicable regulatory approvals and is expected to be closed in the next months. Neoenergia supplies electricity to close to 40 million Brazilians through 5 distribution companies (in the states of Bahia, Rio Grande do Norte, Pernambuco, Sao Paulo, Mato Grosso do Sul and Brasilia) and 18 transmission lines, making it the largest distribution Group in Brazil by number of customers. Neoenergia has more than 725,000 km of distribution lines and 8,000 km of transmission lines, as well as 3,800 MW of renewable generation , mainly hydroelectric. In 2024, Neoenergia became the Brazilian company invested most in basic infrastructures across the country, more than 9.8 billion reais (1.5 billion euros), to expand, upgrade, maintain and automatize its networks. In the coming years, the company faces strong growth prospects thanks to the expected increase in investments in regulated Networks with attractive regulatory frameworks. The operating excellence of Neoenergia’s distribution companies was recently reflected in the awards granted by ABRADEE , the Brazilian Association of Distribution Companies, in which two of its subsidiaries (Neoenergia Cosern, in Rio Grande do Norte, and Neoenergia Elektro, in Sao Paulo and Matto Grosso do Sul) were ranked top 1 and 2 as “Best distribution company”. 09/09/2025 - 14:05 UTC +02:00Iberdrola completes the sale of its smart meter business in the United Kingdom Iberdrola has completed the sale to Macquarie of 100% of SP Smart Meter Assets Limited (SPSMAL), ScottishPower’s subsidiary responsible for managing its around 2.9 million meter smart meter business in the United Kingdom, for around £900 million (€1.06 billion). The transaction aligns with Iberdrola’s strategy to concentrate its investments in regulated networks. This will drive total UK investments to £24 billion between 2024 and 2028, primarily in transmission and distribution networks , as well as in renewable generation. ScottishPower will continue working with Macquarie to support the rollout of smart meters among its customers while focusing on network development. Macquarie is one of the UK’s leading independent providers of electricity meters, now managing over 13 million devices, of which over 10 million are smart meters. Through ScottishPower, Iberdrola has been present in the United Kingdom for 20 years, having invested more than £35 billion in transmission and distribution networks and renewable generation. After the acquisition of Electricity North West (ENW), ScottishPower became the country’s second largest distribution network operator, delivering electricity to 12 million people with a total asset base of around £14 billion. The company holds three distribution licences in Scotland, England and Wales and a transmission licence in Scotland, and operates 170,000 kilometres of lines. Currently, ScottishPower, employs more than 8,000 people and supports 70,000 jobs across its supply chain thanks to annual purchases of around £6 billion. With this transaction, Iberdrola has already surpassed €14 billion in asset rotation and strategic partnerships since the beginning of the current Rotation Asset plan in 2024. 09/09/2025 - 10:40 UTC +02:00Iberdrola signs a renewable energy purchase agreement with Selex Group for 1,250 GWh in Italy Iberdrola and Selex Gruppo Commerciale have signed a renewable energy purchase agreement – known as a PPA (Power Purchase Agreement) – for a total of 1,250 GWh. The agreement, signed with the distribution leader SELEX, will provide photovoltaic energy for a volume of 125 GWh per year and a capacity of 77 MW, starting in July 2026. This collaboration represents an important step towards greater competitiveness and an acceleration of the industrial electrification process in Italy, with an estimated reduction in annual emissions of approximately 37,000 tons of CO₂, equivalent to the planting of 1.5 million trees. Selex Group is the leading organized modern distribution group in Italy. Comprising 18 affiliated companies, it operates a commercial network of 3.331 retail outlets offering a wide variety of formats, ranging from hypermarkets to discount stores. The Group’s nationally recognized brands include “Famila,” “A&O,” and “C+C,” alongside regional brands that are often market leaders in their respective areas. The workforce exceeds 42,600 employees It is an agreement with an innovative contractual structure: the formula of the framework agreement allows energy to be distributed among the various Associated Companies of the Selex Group, with common contractual clauses. With this agreement Iberdrola supports Selex Group in its decarbonization objectives. The signing of this agreement demonstrates how the PPA is a key tool in the decarbonisation strategy of Italian industries, allowing them to mitigate the ever-present risk of energy price volatility in the medium term.Selex assures being satisfied of having closed an agreement with Iberdrola for the realization of a PPA which adds value to the existing sinergies among the Associated Companies in terms of energy supply. 08/09/2025 - 09:58 UTC +02:00Neoenergia delivers the second section of the Alto Paranaíba transmission line Neoenergia, Iberdrola's subsidiary in Brazil, just delivered a new section of the Alto Paranaíba transmission line in northern Minas Gerais. This phase includes the expansion of the Arinos II and Paracatu IV substations, the installation of 819 MVar, and the construction of a 500 kV transmission line with 794 towers that will cross seven municipalities: Arinos, Bonfinópolis de Minas, Dom Bosco, Natalândia, Paracatu, Riachinho and Unaí. The Alto Paranaíba project will carry out structural work to to increase transport capacity between the northern region of Minas Gerais and São Paulo, taking into account updated capacity and more in line with the current context of renewable energy expansion.
