22/10/2025 - 16:44 UTC +02:00New CEO of Iberdrola Australia Iberdrola has announced that Ross Rolfe, Chairman and CEO of Iberdrola Australia, will step down from his position as Chief Executive Officer at the end of 2025. He will continue to serve as Chairman of the Board of Iberdrola Australia. The company will appoint Paul Simshauser as CEO of Iberdrola Australia to replace him. Paul Simshauser was CEO of Powerlink Queensland and Professor of Economics at the Centre for Applied Research in Energy Economics and Policy (CAEEPR). A renowned economist specialising in energy, he has held leadership positions for more than 25 years in Australia's energy markets, regulatory bodies and public policy institutions. Since 2020, Iberdrola Australia has invested $2.5 billion — in addition to the $1.4 billion associated with the acquisition of Infigen — in wind, solar and battery storage projects in South Australia, New South Wales and Queensland, where it employs more than 250 people. 17/10/2025Iberdrola distributed 188,753 GWh of electricity until September, up 6%, driven by the United Kingdom and Spain The electricity distributed by Iberdrola worldwide during the first nine months of the 2025 financial year increased by 6% to 188,753 gigawatt-hours (GWh), driven by the business in the United Kingdom (+43%, including the contribution of Electricity North West) and in Spain (+3%), as reported by the company to the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV). This good balance in distribution, as a result of the increase in demand and electrification, has been accompanied by an increase in production, which stood at 96,047 GWh worldwide between January and September, with significant growth in Iberdrola Energía Internacional (+15%), Spain (+5%) and Brazil (+3%). In the isolated third quarter, the recovery of the United Kingdom is also noteworthy, a country in which production grew by 9% between July and September. By technology, the greater contribution of offshore wind (+33%) has been significant, through the Group's projects in the United Kingdom, Germany, France and the United States; and solar (+41%), especially by plants in Spain, the United Kingdom, the United States and other European Union countries such as Portugal and Italy. Installed capacity and emissions balance Iberdrola's installed capacity worldwide stood at 57,453 megawatts (MW) at the end of September 2025. Of this figure, more than 40% corresponds to onshore and offshore wind, 22% to hydroelectric and 15% to solar. Also noteworthy is the increase in battery capacity, which stands at 503 MW (+154%), with developments in Australia, Spain and the United Kingdom. By country, Iberdrola has increased capacity in practically all the main geographies and already has 32,125 MW in Spain, 3,158 MW in the United Kingdom, 10,581 MW in the United States, 4,167 MW in Brazil and 4,823 MW in other countries including Australia, Germany, Italy and Portugal. The Group's emissions stand at 57 grams of CO2 per kilowatt hour, compared to 63 in the same period in the 2024 financial year. These awards highlight the dedication, commitment and social impact of the Group's professionals most active in the company's International Corporate Volunteering Programme . The awards ceremony was one of the highlights of the 14th International Volunteer Week, which once again brought together thousands of people around the world under the slogan ‘I believe in a better world’. These awards reflect the breadth of Iberdrola's actions in this area and their international dimension. Laura Cid, from Iberdrola Spain's Control Department, was awarded in the Health and Wellbeing category for her involvement in the clean-up and reconstruction of the towns in eastern Spain affected by the cold drop. As part of the ‘Volunteers for the cold drop’ initiative, she travelled weekly from Madrid to Valencia and got family and friends involved. Jodie Dinnie, from the People team at ScottishPower in the United Kingdom, was awarded in the Education category for her key role in the Breaking Barriers project, which offers young people with learning disabilities the opportunity to gain skills and professional experience. Agata Dietrich-Badziong, from Iberdrola Renewables Poland, was recognised in the Commitment and Outreach category for involving more than 100 people in solidarity activities and consolidating corporate volunteering in her country, one of the most recent to join the programme. Benjamin Shepard, head of Avangrid's NECEC electricity transmission network project, was recognised in the Environment category for his work in conserving natural spaces, with 25 environmental initiatives so far this year. The four reflect the spirit of a global network that this year has once again demonstrated its passion and dedication during the 14th International Volunteer Week in collaboration with institutions and non-profit organisations in the countries where Iberdrola operates. More than 8,500 committed people signed up for the 135 initiatives planned for this year. Some of the activities in Spain include environmental actions such as reforestation in the Urdaibai Biosphere Reserve, where more than 8,500 native trees and shrubs have already been planted, with special dedication to restoring areas affected by wildfires. In the United States, housing renovation and biodiversity protection took centre stage. In the United Kingdom, aid was channelled through food banks and improving centres for people with disabilities. In Brazil, workshops on the safe use of electricity were held and cancer prevention campaigns were developed. These are just a few examples of the proposals implemented in the different markets where Iberdrola operates. The company also organised the global ‘Charity Bib’ race, which aims to donate food to vulnerable families. Through this initiative, the kilometres participants run were transformed into boxes of products that will benefit 8,800 people. A global solidarity network Iberdrola's International Corporate Volunteering Programme, created in 2006, has consolidated its upward trajectory and now has more than 23,000 participants who have carried out 9,500 actions working with more than 2,600 associations. To date, the programme has directly benefited more than 14 million people worldwide. This commitment has been recognised internationally. The United Nations included the programme in its report Transforming Lives and Communities prepared by IMPACT2030 with the UN Office for Cooperation. Iberdrola also received the Innovation Award at the headquarters of that same organisation in New York. The award highlights the innovative approaches of companies whose employees generate a positive impact in their communities. The storm caused widespread outages in the service areas of Avangrid's subsidiaries in Connecticut and upstate New York. NYSEG and UI mobilised 550 workers who responded quickly and safely to restore service. Power could be restored quickly because of the company's investments in modernising and strengthening the electricity grid . Advanced technologies such as automated switching, smart meters and real-time monitoring systems enabled teams to quickly identify outages, isolate damage and restore service efficiently. These infrastructure improvements have increased the resilience of the grid , cut restoration times by two hours and reinforced Avangrid's commitment to delivering reliable power in the face of increasingly severe weather events. Thanks to these activities, more than 300 students and teachers from municipal public schools in Mossoró, a city in Rio Grande do Norte, are learning a little bit more about the importance of preserving the historical and cultural heritage of one of their greatest local symbols: the Lauro da Escóssia Historical Museum. The aim of these activities is to preserve collective memory, strengthening local residents' connection with their identity through interesting facts about the museum's collection and local historical figures. This long-term power purchase agreement (PPA), signed under the self-production of energy modality, will be in place for 10 years. With this, Nexus secures access to 31 MW of renewable energy produced by the farm, enough to cover 27% of its current demand. 15/10/2025 - 13:08 UTC +02:00Iberdrola strengthens its presence in Australia with the purchase of the Tungkillo battery storage project Iberdrola has acquired the Tungkillo battery storage project, located in South Australia, from the RES Australia group, which will involve an investment of 275 million euros. This infrastructure, which will have 270 MW and a storage capacity of 1,080 MWh, has all the key approvals and very advanced connection rights, in addition to the land already secured. Its entry into operation is expected in 2028. The Australian system requires a significant increase in battery storage capacity to integrate the new renewable capacity and bring flexibility to the system. The location of the Tungkillo project, in the south of the country, is optimal for providing this service. In the case of Iberdrola Australia , the storage systems provide backup capacity for its portfolio of energy sales contracts to customers. The company has two other projects under construction, Smithfield (in New South Wales) and Broadsound (in the state of Queensland), which will come into operation in 2026. Investment in line with the 2025-28 Plan The acquisition of the Tungkillo battery system is fully consistent with the Group's recently presented 2025-28 plan , which foresees total investments of more than €1 billion in Australia, a country with a AAA credit rating, mainly in battery development. The plan foresees a total investment of 58,000 million euros, an amount that will be allocated 85% to countries with an A rating equipped with stable, predictable and attractive regulatory frameworks. The United Kingdom will be the main destination for investment, with 20,000 million euros, followed by the United States, with 16,000 million, the Iberian Peninsula, with 9,000 million euros, Brazil, with 7,000 million euros and other EU countries and Australia, with 5,000 million. 14/10/2025 - 13:35 UTC +02:00The Alto Paranaíba transmission project in Brazil enters its final phase Neoenergia is entering the final phase of the major Alto Paranaíba project, one of Brazil’s largest electricity transmission initiatives, which crosses the states of Minas Gerais and São Paulo. The company has completed all the foundations and erected 99 % of the towers, with 3,217 structures erected out of the 3,244 planned. Completing the foundations in an initiative of this magnitude is a significant achievement that demonstrates the soundness of the planning and the dedication of the teams on the ground. The foundation process – essential to ensuring the stability, safety and strength of the infrastructure for decades to come – involves deep excavations, high-precision concreting and the installation of fittings capable of supporting tonnes of metal structure for each of the towers, adapting the work to the different types of soil along the route. Cable laying is also progressing at a good pace, with 78 % of the work completed, representing 1,226 kilometres of the planned 1,573 kilometres. In total, the construction project is now 93 % complete. Neoenergia expects to complete all the work necessary for the commissioning of this infrastructure, which is essential for Brazil’s energy future, by the end of this year. Alto Paranaíba will contribute to the security and reliability of Brazil’s National Interconnected System. The project, awarded to Neoenergia in the National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL) transmission auction No. 01/2022, will increase the capacity of the grid between the northern region of Minas Gerais and São Paulo and the transmission of energy generated in the interior of the country.
