Sport and people: the partnership plans actions to promote Olympic sport in Brazil, seeking to increase female participation, mainly in the concession areas of Neoenergia's five distributors, which serve 17 million customers in the Federal District, Bahia, Rio Grande do Norte, Pernambuco and part of the states of São Paulo and Mato Grosso do Sul, reaching a population of around 40 million people. 25/09/2025 - 10:51 UTC +02:00Neoenergia extends concession agreement for its Pernambuco distributor to 2060 Neoenergia Pernambuco, Iberdrola's subsidiary’s distributor in Brazil , has just become the first electricity distributor in the country to obtain an early extension of its concession agreement from the Ministry of Mines and Energy. Five years ahead of schedule, the new agreement guarantees the company the possibility of bringing forward investments of around €1B until 2029, accelerating improvement of the electricity system and benefiting more than 4 million customers throughout the state. Over the last 25 years, Neoenergia has invested more than €3.17B in Pernambuco, promoting the modernisation, digitalisation and expansion of electricity grids. Neoenergia Pernambuco's process was approved by Brazil's National Electric Energy Agency and the Ministry of Mines and Energy after a careful assessment of the distributor's supply quality and economic and financial health KPIs. 24/09/2025 - 09:00 UTC +02:00Iberdrola will invest €58bn to 2028 (+30%) to accelerate growth in Networks in US & UK Ignacio Galán, Iberdrola’s Executive Chairman, said: This plan aims to transform Iberdrola's profile into a more regulated company, with networks as a vector for growth. We will invest €58 bn by 2028, two-thirds of which will go to transmission and distribution networks, mainly in the United Kingdom and the United States. We expect to achieve a net profit of €7,6 bn in 2028, with around €20 bn allocated to dividends between 2024 and 2028. During this period, we will add more than 15.000 people to our workforce, make purchases of more than €65 bn to thousands of suppliers –supporting 500,000 jobs–, our tax contribution will exceed €40 bn, and we will invest €1,600 bn in R&D&I, while also achieving carbon neutrality by 2030. 23/09/2025 - 09:39 UTC +02:00Iberdrola to supply electricity to Amazon data centres in Oregon Iberdrola, through its US subsidiary Avangrid , has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Amazon to supply clean electricity from a new photovoltaic project, Oregon Trail Solar. The 57 MW facility will be located in Gilliam County, Oregon, and will supply the tech giant's data centres in the region. This contract is in addition to others already signed by Amazon with the Iberdrola Group for projects in Germany, the United States, the United Kingdom, Portugal and Spain. In total, the US multinational has contracted 68,100 GWh of renewable energy from Iberdrola. With a capacity of 57 MW and an investment of $100M, Oregon Trail Solar will consist of approximately 100,000 solar panels and will begin operating in 2027. This is the second agreement between Avangrid and Amazon in the US’s northwest and follows on from a previous one, which includes the 98.4 MW Leaning Juniper IIA wind project, also in Gilliam County. This international recognition, which highlights the quality and editorial strategy of the electricity company's 2024 'Integrated annual report and sustainability information' , confirms the company as a benchmark in corporate communication. Iberdrola's document presents the group's main milestones in terms of sustainability , electrification and social commitment and has been praised for its clear and consistent structure, as well as for its use of multimedia resources that strengthen transparency and effectiveness in the dissemination of its information. Over two days, representatives from Accenture, Amazon Web Services, Convey, Deloitte, ESRI, EY, Hitachi Energy, IBM, Iberdrola Innovation Middle East, Microsoft, NTT Data, SAP, Schneider Electric and Wipro took part in demonstration sessions to present their most innovative digital products and services. These solutions, which incorporate technologies such as advanced analytics, artificial intelligence, machine learning and robotics , were analysed to solve challenges in the energy sector, with a focus on customer service, smart grids and energy production. 19/09/2025Iberdrola hits 10k public charging points in operation in Spain Iberdrola España, Iberdrola's subsidiary in Spain , in its commitment to promoting and facilitating access to electric cars, has reached 10,000 charging points in operation in Spain, a charging network that could already serve 1,000,000 electric vehicles. The company, firmly convinced of the energy transition and that emissions-free mobility that is also more efficient is possible, installed its first charging point in 2016. Today, 10 years later, it is the leader in charging in all power segments. The company currently has more than 2,700 high-power points in operation, 1,300 of which are ultra-fast, operated by Iberdrola | bp pulse, a partnership created in December 2023 by Iberdrola España and bp , the leading ultra-fast charging company at service stations in Spain, to drive the expansion of ultra-fast charging infrastructure. All of them use 100% green energy from renewable sources with a guarantee of origin, which, in addition to advancing electrification, promotes the transition to a fossil fuel independent system. 18/09/2025 - 17:05 UTC +02:00Iberdrola sells its business in Hungary for a total consideration of €171 million Iberdrola has reached an agreement to sell 100% of the shares of Iberdrola Renovables Magyarország KFT, which owns its business in Hungary, to a consortium formed by Premier Energy—who previously acquired the company’s assets in Romania in 2024—and to the Hungarian group iG TECH CC. Through this transaction, the Group will receive €171.2 million for the shares of the company and a dividend distributed prior to closing. The assets sold include 158 megawatts (MW) of operational wind capacity , commissioned by Iberdrola since entering the country in 2008. These assets will shortly be selling their energy in the wholesale market, once the regulatory 15-year tariff period ends. Currently, 124 MW are already operating in the free market, and the remaining 34 MW will do so in less than a year. The transaction is subject to ordinary regulatory approvals. This deal is part of Iberdrola’s strategy to focus its investments on key businesses and markets, mainly in networks in the United States and the United Kingdom , and in regulated or long-term contracted generation, where income stability and predictability are maximized. It is also fully in line with the concentration of activities of Iberdrola Energía Internacional to focus on core EU markets and in Australia . During 2025, Iberdrola has announced several long-term strategic alliances and asset rotation transactions . These include the recent agreement for the sale of its businesses in Mexico , and its partnership with Masdar to co-invest €5.2 billion in the 1.4 GW East Anglia THREE offshore wind farm in the United Kingdom.
