LACP has evaluated nearly 1,000 annual reports (including digital formats) from companies in numerous industries and more than 20 countries around the world. Iberdrola, with a score of 99 out of 100, won the global Platinum award in the Online/Digital Report category for its digital space "Integrated Annual Report and Sustainability Information 2024" Iberdrola has also been recognised as the ‘Most Improved Report’ for its significant improvement in the quality, design and, in particular, accessibility of its report. The award-winning report is part of the digital space that Iberdrola dedicates to sustainability information, an environment that integrates all content related to environmental protection and biodiversity, social impact, governance and associated financial and non-financial metrics in a structured and visual way. This microsite, which reports in accordance with the main international standards (ESRS, ISSB, SASB, GRI, B4SI and Global Compact, among others), has established itself as a key tool in the commitment to transparency and the dissemination of sustainability information to all its stakeholders. The ‘Most Improved’ distinction highlights Iberdrola's efforts to evolve its communication model, working towards a richer, more interactive digital experience tailored to all users' needs. 04/09/2025Ignacio Galán meets the UK Prime Minister in Downing Street to discuss investment opportunities Executive Chairman Ignacio Galán was one of the leading business executives invited by Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves to participate in the UK-Spain Business Roundtable in 10 Downing Street on Wednesday 3 September. Asked by Sir Keir for his views on the opportunities for investment, the Chairman said that thanks to the long-term stability of the UK Government’s plans to reform planning and electrify the economy, Iberdrola is more than doubling its investments in the country, to £24bn by 2028. Added to this is the more than £35 billion that Iberdrola has invested in the United Kingdom over the last 20 years in transmission and distribution networks and renewable generation. The Chairman noted favourably the UK’s traditions of rule of law and regulatory stability, and the commitment of public authorities to coherence and dialogue. He welcomed the UK Government’s Clean Power 2030 Action Plan and the measures it had adopted to reform planning. With ongoing dialogue and co-operation, the UK economy would benefit from Iberdrola’s investment – delivering more opportunities for local supply chains and skilled jobs. In terms of the opportunities for enhanced bilateral co-operation, the Chairman identified the importance of building on the UK-EU Agreement, signed in May 2025 . Working together more closely on electrification and energy security would bring benefits for consumers and industries through lower energy costs and reduced emissions. This initiative is designed to support the evaluation of standalone and hybrid storage assets, improve revenue forecasting and strengthen internal expertise in the dynamic American energy storage landscape. 01/09/2025Iberdrola España commissions one of its largest photovoltaic plants Iberdrola España, Iberdrola's subsidiary in the country, has commissioned its photovoltaic plant in Ciudad Rodrigo, the company's second in the province of Salamanca and one of the largest in Castile and León. With a 316 MW capacity, it will produce clean energy to supply more than 155,000 homes, representing 75,000 fewer tonnes of CO₂ a year. The farm, which is part of the partnership with Norges Bank, is located on 439 hectares between Valdecarros and the Torralba mountain range. It has more than 460,000 photovoltaic modules and required an investment of €200M. It created 800 jobs during peak construction periods. 29/08/2025 - 08:58 UTC +02:00Avangrid and SmartestEnergy sign deal to supply energy from two wind farms in New Hampshire Avangrid, the Iberdrola Group’s US subsidiary , and SmartestEnergy, a global provider of renewable energy solutions for businesses, have signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) from two Avangrid facilities in New Hampshire. SmartestEnergy will receive the total capacity of Avangrid's Lempster and Groton energy projects, which together total 72 megawatts (MW). This agreement represents the first long-term power purchase agreement between the two companies. Lempster is a 24 MW wind farm located in Sullivan County, which began operating in 2008, becoming New Hampshire's first modern, commercial-scale wind facility. Groton is a 48 MW wind facility in Grafton County, which went online in 2012. Avangrid operates in 23 states and has an energy capacity of 10.5 GW from 80 projects. 28/08/2025 - 08:12 UTC +02:00ScottishPower begins expansion and repowering of its British wind farms Arecleoch and Kilgallioch Iberdrola is continuing to move forward in improving and modernising its renewable facilities around the world. Through its UK subsidiary ScottishPower , the company has begun expansion works at its Arecleoch and Kilgallioch wind farms, located in the Scottish council areas of South Ayrshire and Dumfries and Galloway. This will enable the electricity company to increase both facilities’ production capacity and improve their efficiency, advancing the unstoppable process of the economy’s electrification. After obtaining all the relevant administrative and environmental permits, Arecleoch and Kilgallioch will have 13 and 9 additional wind turbines respectively, enabling them to achieve a combined installed capacity of around 485 megawatts (MW). Once the process is complete, both wind farms will be capable of generating enough clean electricity to meet the energy needs of around 300,000 British households. The benefits of Iberdrola's renewed commitment to these two facilities will also extend to the communities in which they are located, both in terms of socio-economic and environmental value creation. To date, Arecleoch and Kilgallioch, operational since 2011 and 2017, have generated a combined tax contribution of almost £16M (or more than €18.5M at the current exchange rate) and are expected to contribute more than £31.4M (over €36.3M) to local coffers by the end of their useful life. On the environmental front, Arecleoch’s expansion includes the restoration of 34 hectares of peat bogs on reforested land. As for Kilgallioch, 25 hectares of peat bogs have been rehabilitated. The land surrounding this farm, located in the Kirkcowan Flow Special Area of Conservation, will undergo significant restoration to improve habitat resilience and restore natural water flows. Iberdrola, a leading energy player in the United Kingdom Through ScottishPower, Iberdrola is one of the largest energy companies in the UK. Its activities focus on electricity networks, renewable energy, and energy retail. Regarding the first area, Iberdrola’s UK subsidiary currently operates, under its brands SP Energy Networks and SP Electricity North West (following the acquisition of ENW ), as the second-largest distribution network operator in the UK. It supplies electricity to around 12 million people through more than 170,000 kilometres of power lines. SP Energy Networks distributes and connects electricity in Merseyside, Cheshire and North Shropshire (England), North Wales, as well as central and southern Scotland. SP Electricity North West distributes electricity in north-west England, including Manchester and the Lake District, and also owns and operates the high-voltage transmission network in central and southern Scotland. Iberdrola plans to invest up to €13.902 billion (approximately £12 billion) by 2031 under RIIO-T3 in a major programme to renew UK infrastructure and boost electrification. In terms of renewables, ScottishPower has almost 3,100 MW of installed capacity, comprised of 40 onshore wind farms and two offshore projects. It is also building the East Anglia Three offshore wind farm, the second largest in the world, as well as East Anglia Two and East Anglia One North . Together with the already operational East Anglia One, they will form the East Anglia Hub, an ambitious project that will generate up to 3.9 GW of capacity on the UK’s east coast. Finally, in the retail sector, ScottishPower, with 4.2 million customers, is one of the largest energy suppliers in the UK. It sells electricity and gas, while also helping customers install smart solutions such as electric vehicle chargers, heat pumps, and domestic solar systems in homes across the country. These awards, promoted by the Brazilian Association of Electricity Distributors, are regarded as the most important in the sector. They recognise energy distributors that have stood out in areas such as management quality, innovation, sustainability, customer evaluation and operational performance, among others. This year’s event had special significance, as it coincided with Abradee’s 50th anniversary and bringing together sector authorities, government representatives, regulatory agencies and business leaders. 25/08/2025 - 14:04 UTC +02:00Carbon2Nature Brazil partners with Biomas on a native forest restoration project Carbon2Nature Brasil, a joint venture between Neoenergia, Iberdrola's subsidiary in Brazil , and Carbon2Nature , an Iberdrola Group company that develops nature-based solutions, has just partnered with Biomas as co-developer of the Muçununga Project. This initiative aims to restore some 1,200 hectares of Atlantic Forest on land distributed across eight municipalities in southern Bahia. The investment will reach approximately €8.5M. Over the next two years, Biomas and Carbon2Nature Brazil will plant around 2 million seedlings of more than 70 native species such as araçá, copaíba, guapuruvu, ipê-amarelo and jatobá. This wide diversity guarantees the recovery of ecological corridors, benefiting the natural ecosystem and increasing the value of the project. In addition to restoring the ecosystem and recovering biodiversity, the project will support local socio-economic development and is expected to generate 80 direct jobs in the region.
