Iberdrola-sponsored ENLIT Europe, the largest international trade fair for electrification, kicks off in Bilbao

ENLIT Europe, the largest international trade fair for connecting industries to drive the energy transition towards a sustainable solution, opened its doors in Bilbao (Basque Country, Spain), with the support of Iberdrola as Green Electrification Partner. The event, in which the company plays a significant role, brings together more than 15,000 professionals, 700 exhibiting companies and representatives from more than 140 countries to analyse the challenges and opportunities that will shape the future of energy in Europe.

The official opening was presided over by the Deputy General of Bizkaia, Elixabete Etxanobe, who inaugurated the event alongside the Mayor of Bilbao, Juan Mari Aburto; the Basque Government’s Minister for Industry, Energy Transition and Sustainability, Mikel Jauregi; the CEO of Iberdrola España, Mario Ruiz-Tagle and Paddy Young, Director of Enlit Media.

Pedro Azagra, CEO of Iberdrola, visited the fair together with other executives. The company is actively participating in the main conference programme, with several of its experts speaking, including Agustín Delgado, Iberdrola’s Technology Director; Ana Lafuente, Iberdrola’s Global Networks Director; Ignacio Sánchez-Galán, Executive Chairman; Santiago Bañales, managing director/CEO, Iberdrola Innovation Middle East/East West Digital; David Martínez, Retail Business Director Spain at Iberdrola Clientes and Gregorio Relaño, Planning and Regulation Director at Iberdrola Redes.

In his speech, Mario Ruiz-Tagle how important electrification is for European industry to remain competitive. He pointed out that 'electrification depends on grids' and that investment in this area is key 'to guarantee strong and resilient structures' and continuing to improve service quality.

The President of the Basque Government, Imanol Pradales, also visited Iberdrola's pavilion at ENLIT Europe.
