Enlit Europe kicks off in Bilbao, the largest international trade fair for electrification driven by Iberdrola

Enlit Europe, the largest international trade fair bringing industries together to accelerate the shift in the energy model towards a sustainable solution, has opened its doors in Bilbao (Basque Country, Spain) with the support of Iberdrola as Green Electrification Partner. The event, in which the company has a strong presence, brings together more than 15,000 professionals, 700 exhibiting companies and representatives from more than 140 countries to analyse the challenges and opportunities that will shape the future of energy in Europe.

The official opening was chaired by the General Deputy of Bizkaia, Elixabete Etxanobe, who inaugurated the event alongside the mayor of Bilbao, Juan Mari Aburto; the Basque Government’s counsellor for Industry, Energy Transition and Sustainability, Mikel Jauregi; the CEO of Iberdrola España, Mario Ruiz-Tagle and Paddy Young, director of Enlit Media.

Pedro Azagra, CEO of Iberdrola, visited the fair together with other executives. It is an event in which the company takes an active role in the main conference programme, with several in-house experts speaking as panellists, including Agustín Delgado, Iberdrola’s Technology Director; Ana Lafuente, Iberdrola’s Global Networks Director; Ignacio Sánchez-Galán, Executive Chairman; Santiago Bañales, managing director/CEO, Iberdrola Innovation Middle East/East West Digital; David Martínez, Retail Business Director Spain at Iberdrola Clientes and Gregorio Relaño, Planning and Regulation Director at Iberdrola Redes.

In his remarks, Mario Ruiz-Tagle stressed the importance of electrification for European industry to maintain its competitiveness. He also recalled that “electrification depends on networks” and that investment in this field is key “to guarantee strong and resilient structures” and to continue improving service quality.

The lehendakari, Imanol Pradales, also visited the Iberdrola pavilion at ENLIT Europe.
