3rd Iberdrola Convive Awards
We are presenting the 2026 Iberdrola Convive Awards to recognise the best initiatives addressing the opportunities presented by the energy transition for rural areas

On 30 September 2026 we will announce the winners of the third edition of the Iberdrola Convive Awards at a ceremony held in Sigüenza, Guadalajara, attended by the CEO of Iberdrola España, Mario Ruiz-Tagle. These awards recognise and raise the profile of initiatives, partnerships, companies, projects or local organisations that exemplify the opportunities the energy transition offers to rural areas and local communities in Spain.
Spain is facing a historic opportunity to link the energy transition with territorial cohesion and the creation of sustainable economic and industrial opportunities. The roll-out of renewable energy, investments in networks, storage, industrial electrification and digitalisation are generating new growth opportunities in rural municipalities and areas undergoing transition. Beyond reducing emissions, electrification can help attract investment, strengthen the business fabric, improve services, create quality jobs and offer new prospects for young people. To fully harness this potential, we need to strengthen dialogue and build lasting partnerships between all stakeholders.
The Convive Programme highlights the key role of rural areas in the energy transition by attracting investment, generating opportunities for local development and employment, fostering industrial activity and prosperity, contributing to the sustainability of the region and its biodiversity and by promoting collaboration between the various stakeholders to maximise the positive impacts of the transition on local communities.
On 30 September 2026 we held the third edition of our Iberdrola Convive Awards programme with several key objectives:
- To analyse the role of renewable energy as a driver of local development.
- To explore opportunities to attract green industry and productive investment to rural areas, thereby strengthening competitiveness and the creation of industrial value in Spain.
- To identify opportunities for employment, training and entrepreneurship for young people.
- To share experiences of social dialogue and citizen participation in energy transition projects.
- To foster partnerships between businesses, public authorities, academia, NGOs and local communities.
Award Categories
Community Leadership Award
- Nominations focus on towns and regions that support the expansion of renewable energy.
Impact Innovation Award
- Nominations focus on projects that seek a new approach to the development of renewable energy and its relationship with people and nature.
Transformative Entrepreneurship Award
- Nominations focusing on the creation of activity and value linked to renewable energy and the green economy.
Award for Purposeful Communication
- Entries that help to better explain renewable energy and the energy transition and highlight their importance.
Young Talent Award
- Entries led by or aimed at young people in any of the above categories.
Biodiversity Conservation Award
- Entries focused on environmental protection and the preservation of biodiversity.

In 2023 we launched the first edition of the Convive Awards, a competition designed to recognise those initiatives, partnerships, companies, projects or local organisations that exemplify the opportunities the energy transition offers to rural areas and local communities. Executive Chairman Ignacio Galán presented these awards in Mérida (Extremadura) on 1 December 2023 and in Paredes de Nava (Palencia) on 1 December 2024. They hold particular significance for Iberdrola as they recognise various organisations and individuals from both the public and private sectors whose authentic, human stories are closely linked to the socio-economic development of the region.
