15/04/2025 - 12:05 UTC +02:00Avangrid Uses Generative AI to Support Field Technicians at Its Wind Farms in the United States Avangrid, the US subsidiary of Iberdrola , has begun deploying a solution built to transform field operations at its wind farms. First Time Right Autopilot puts generative artificial intelligence (AI) into the hands of field technicians to help them quickly identify and resolve any issues detected in the operation of wind turbines. This tool is integrated into the mobile devices of field technicians and can be activated via voice or text. First Time Right Autopilot gathers relevant information to define the nature and scope of the issue before providing the technician with detailed instructions, supplemented with relevant documentation or instructional videos. The solution enables rapid detection and resolution of incidents at operational facilities, as well as speeding up decision-making and solution deployment. In this way, downtime is reduced, and operational efficiency is improved. The tool was created using Amazon Bedrock, a service from Amazon Web Services that offers a choice of high-performing foundation models from leading AI companies. 02/04/2025 - 12:12 UTC +02:00Iberdrola once again joins the UN Global Compact to further promote sustainability among its suppliers Iberdrola joins the United Nations Global Compact’s 3rd Sustainable Suppliers Training Programme to continue promoting the sustainability of our suppliers . The Basque electricity company is promoting sustainability training for more than 920 SME suppliers on four continents in this new edition of the programme led by the UN Global Compact Spain, ICEX and ICO Foundation. In previous years, a total of 338 suppliers completed the training programme and more than 96% of them felt it was useful for their company. The programme aims to train supply chains in sustainability under the frameworks of the Global Compact's Ten Principles (human rights, labour standards, environment and anti-corruption) and the 2030 Agenda . Iberdrola renews its collaboration with the UN Global Compact in Spain and continues advancing globally in its drive for sustainability among its suppliers. For five months, the SME suppliers benefiting from the programme (more than 920 for Iberdrola) can access online courses, live recorded sessions, practical guidelines, templates for policies and codes and case studies of other companies. Once they have completed all the modules of the programme, SMEs will receive a participation and achievement certificate. All this can be done free of charge, including training in four modules on general aspects of sustainability, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the topics in four blocks of the Global Compact Principles and the internationalisation of the company, incentives and non-financial information reporting. Commitment to suppliers The company has been promoting environmental and social sustainability and governance with defined commitments for years. Iberdrola's supplier must accept the supplier's Code of Conduct in order to enter into a business relationship with the company. This includes principles of action and clauses on respect for human rights, equal opportunities, inclusion and diversity, occupational hazard prevention and safety, anti-fraud and corruption measures, and respect for the environment, among other issues. Iberdrola seeks supplies and suppliers that, in addition to being sustainable, are transparent, solvent, fair, ethical, and technically competitive. For this reason, the supplier is evaluated during the purchasing process to ascertain potential risk. We verify that their operations are aligned with the Group's policies, principles, and responsibilities. The Sustainable Suppliers training programme is now in its third year with the participation of more than 5,200 SME suppliers from 72 countries. The programme is promoted by the UN Global Compact Spain together with the ICO Foundation and ICEX Spain Export and Investment, with Iberdrola and 47 other large Spanish companies, partners of the UN Global Compact Spain, participating as mobilisers. Iberdrola also has a programme called Initiatives for SMEs in which it reports on the actions it carries out to strengthen the sustainability of the small and medium-sized companies it works with. { "@context": "https://schema.org", "@type": "NewsArticle", "headline": "Iberdrola once again joins the UN Global Compact to further promote sustainability among its suppliers", "description": "The Basque electricity company is promoting sustainability training for more than 920 SME suppliers on four continents in this new edition of the programme led by the UN Global Compact Spain, ICEX and ICO Foundation.", "image": "https://www.iberdrola.com/documents/20125/5106832/programa-capacitacion-proveedores-726x484.jpg", "datePublished": "02.04.2025 - 12:12 UTC +02:00", "dateModified": "02.04.2025 - 12:12 UTC +02:00", "mainEntityOfPage": "https://www.iberdrola.com/press-room/news/detail/iberdrola-joins-un-global-compact-sustainability-suppliers", "publisher": { "@type": "Organization", "name": "Iberdrola", "logo": { "@type": "ImageObject", "url": "https://www.iberdrola.com/documents/20125/4419331/Logo1-iberdrola-363x205.jpg" } } } READ MORE
