27/06/2021Iberdrola wins more than 15% of new onshore wind capacity auctioned in Poland Iberdrola is making progress in its commitment to develop renewables in Poland, one of the company’s new growth markets for the years ahead. The company has been awarded 50 megawatts (MW) of the total 300 MW of onshore wind capacity auctioned in the country, representing almost 17% of the total. This brings the company's onshore wind capacity in operation and under development in the country to 163 MW, after recently completing its agreement with CEE Equity Partners, signed in March. This deal included the acquisition of two operational wind farms, with 112.5 MW of capacity, and access to a third, with 50 MW, confirmed today at the auction. Almost all of Iberdrola´s onshore wind capacity in Poland is associated with 10-year power purchase agreements (PPAs). The company also has a portfolio of seven offshore projects, with a potential capacity of up to 7,300 MW, following the recent acquisition of 70% of the developer Sea Wind. With these offshore projects Iberdrola is working on the implementation of the Baltic Sea Hub. The Hub will act as a focal point for offshore and onshore services, as well as providing local content for Iberdrola's projects in Germany, Poland and Sweden. The Baltic Sea has an offshore wind development potential of 93,000 MW, of which 28,000 MW would be in Polish waters. The result of today's auction also confirms Iberdrola's commitment to Poland, where it operates a local development team. It also reaffirms the company's strategy of growing in A-rated countries - more than 75% of its Ebitda in 2020 came from A-rated countries. Wind power leaders, also at sea Participation in the Polish auction is in line with Iberdrola's strategy of positioning itself in new renewable growth markets and follows on from the twelve corporate operations carried out in the last year in countries such as Australia, France, Japan, Sweden and Ireland. One of the company's major growth areas for the coming years will be offshore wind power, where Poland has ambitious plans. It aims to have 23% of its energy mix from clean energy sources by the end of the decade, with up 8,000 MW of offshore wind power. In global terms, Iberdrola's offshore wind portfolio totalled 20,000 MW at the end of the first quarter. The new growth markets will support the group to reach an installed offshore capacity of 12,000 MW by the end of the decade. In 2020, offshore wind energy already contributed 585 million euros to Iberdrola's Ebitda, growing by 72%; and its contribution will rise to 2.3 billion euros in 2030. Green investments to promote economic recovery Iberdrola has been leading the energy transition for two decades, acting as a key driving force in the transformation of industry and the green recovery of the economy and employment. To this end, the company has launched a major investment plan of 150 billion euros over the next decade -75 billion euros by 2025-, with which to triple renewable capacity, double network assets and take advantage of the opportunities of the energy revolution facing the world's leading economies. Following investments of 120 billion euros in the last twenty years, Iberdrola is a leader in renewable energy with nearly 35,000 MW installed worldwide, a volume that makes its generation fleet one of the cleanest in the energy sector. With emissions of 28 grCO2/kWh in Europe, ten times less than its European competitors, the strategy of investing in clean energy and networks will lead Iberdrola to be a "carbon neutral" company in Europe by 2030. 25/06/2021Galán sees the energy transformation as an opportunity to progress towards, "more sustainable and competitive production models" The chairman of the Iberdrola group, Ignacio Galán, participated on Thursday 24 in the Tendencias 2022 forum organized by the newspaper El País, which analyzed the strategies with which to leave the recession behind and focus the recovery of the economy after the COVID-19 pandemic. Galán was in charge of addressing the main lines of the transformation towards a green economy, key to recovery. During his speech, he highlighted the following ideas: * The energy transition will involve a mobilization of investments in the world of 30 trillion dollars (about 25.12 trillion euros) over the next 10 years. * It will also be a "driver for job quality", thanks to the creation of approximately 15 million jobs globally. * It is necessary to focus resources on those areas that have a future and on those sectors where we need to be, such as hydrogen or offshore wind power, while at the same time strengthening the sectors where the country is already at the forefront. * Much progress has been made in the path of green energy in the last 20 years, when Iberdrola bet on this model "fighting against everything and everyone". "We have invested 120 billion since 2001 in all countries," he explained, referring to the group's investment plan of 75 billion by 2025 and 150 billion by 2030. * For it to be possible to tackle the energy transformation, permits must be expedited: "If we have a slow system and we don't change the model, we won't get there". 22/06/2021Iberdrola and Grupo Huertas advance in their commitment to promoting electric mobility Iberdrola and Grupo Huertas have signed a new collaboration agreement to continue to promote sustainable mobility through the installation of over 50 electric vehicle charging points at dealers of the leading vehicle distributor group in the Region of Murcia. The agreement covers the installation of charging infrastructure for both in-house use by the dealers themselves - in this case 7.4 kilowatt (kW) chargers - as well as for public use on the street with power ratings including semi-rapid (22 kW), rapid (50 kW), super rapid (150 kW) and ultra rapid (350 kW). The initiative marks a strengthening of the commitment on the part of both companies for a more sustainable business model and an electric mobility partnership initiated in 2019 following the agreement through which they offer customers solutions for installing charging points when they purchase an electric vehicle. Present at the signing of the accord were Francisco Vidal, Managing Director of Grupo Huertas, Itziar Pérez, Iberdrola's Head of Retail for the Region of Murcia, and Patricio Valverde, the company's institutional representative in the Autonomous Community. According to Francisco Vidal this agreement “is another step forward in the technological revolution that we are experiencing within the Huertas Group and in the move towards a new type of mobility. It will enable us to continue to offer our customers the best possible service and contribute towards promoting the installation of charging points next to our dealerships which are well-positioned to serve the major roads and motorways of the Region”. For his part, Itziar Pérez stressed that “this agreement confirms the need for continued collaboration between all the agents involved in sustainable mobility with the aim of making progress in establishing solutions for the electrification of transport, in order to respond to the challenges of decarbonisation and to improving air quality in our towns and cities”. Users of the public charging points will be charging their batteries with 100% green energy from renewable sources, with guarantee of origin certificates (GoOs). Also, the public charging points will be shown on the Iberdrola Public Charging App, the only one in Spain with verified information about all electric charging points, both Iberdrola's and those of other operators. The app enables drivers to locate charging stations, check the operational status in real time, book a charging point and pay using a mobile phone. Electric mobility and green recovery Iberdrola continues to push its stance on transport electrification as part of its strategy for a decarbonised economy, as a key factor in reducing emissions and pollution, as well as for a green recovery in the post-Covid world. The company is implementing its sustainable mobility plan , with an investment of 150 million euros, through which it will intensify the roll-out of charging points for electric vehicles in the coming years. The initiative entails installing around 150,000 charging points in homes and at business premises, as well as on the public road network, in cities, and on the major motorways over the coming years. The commitment to deploy high-efficiency charging points will take the form of the installation of ultra-rapid (350 kW), super-rapid (150 kW) and rapid (50 kW) stations. Iberdrola is aware of the need to boost electric mobility in Spain through coordinated, effective action involving the major players. In this regard, the company has already completed more than 50 infrastructure deployment agreements with administrations, institutions, companies, service stations, dealers and electric vehicle manufacturers. It was the first Spanish company to sign up to The Climate Group’s EV100 initiative, with the aim of accelerating the transition to electric vehicles, committing to electrify its entire fleet of vehicles and facilitate charging for staff in its businesses in Spain and the UK by 2030.
