Installation of monopiles at the Windanker offshore wind farm in Germany completed

Iberdrola Deutschland, Iberdrola's international business in Germany, has reached an important milestone in the construction of the Windanker offshore wind farm, successfully installing the project's 21 monopile foundations. This marks the start of the next phase of construction.

The monopiles were manufactured at a state-of-the-art production plant in Spain, specifically equipped for large monopile foundations as part of a strategic alliance between Navantia Seanergies and Windar Renovables. Van Oord was responsible for installing the foundations, using the heavy-lift installation vessel Svanen. Construction is progressing according to plan, with Windanker scheduled to come online at the end of 2026.

Together with Wikinger and Baltic Eagle, Windanker forms the Baltic Hub, with which Iberdrola is expanding its installed capacity in the Baltic Sea to more than 1,100 MW, making a key contribution to a stable and sustainable energy supply. Once completed, the Baltic Hub will generate green electricity equivalent to more than 1.1 million households per year.

Since December 2024, the Japanese energy company Kansai has held a 49% stake in Windanker. Iberdrola retains a majority stake in this alliance with 51%.
