 2016 Sustainability Scorecard [PDF]

The Sustainability assessment is a tool for evaluating the Group's sustainability performance by analysing its economic, environmental and social dimensions, and is used to determine which aspects require improvement throughout the Group as a whole. The assessment serves to measure the quality of the sustainable strategy pursued.

Sustainability assessment: energy sustainability, competitiveness, security of supply, environment, business sustainability, social dimension, value creation.

The outlook for the future is for strong growth in world energy demand that must be satisfied with clean and efficient technologies to meet the global pledge to reduce emissions. The electricity sector plays a key role in tackling these challenges efficiently, thanks to its technological potential for contributing to the decarbonisation of the economy thanks to renewable energies. With its commitment to a model of sustainable energy, Iberdrola has been at the forefront of the energy transition with its support for the sustainable solutions required by the increasing electrification of the world economy: more clean energies, more storage capacity, more backup energy, more and more intelligent grids, and greater digitisation.
