08/06/2022Iberdrola commissions Mikronoros wind farm and exceeds 300 MW in Greece Iberdrola has commissioned the 33.6 MW Mikronoros wind farm in Greece. With the entry into service of this facility, located in the province of Rodopi, the company brings its total installed wind power capacity in the country to 308 MW. The plant, which has eight 105-metre-high wind turbines and a rotor diameter of 150 metres, will be capable of supplying clean energy to more than 34,000 homes. The construction of this facility has been a major challenge due to the extreme weather conditions in the mountains bordering Bulgaria, where the site of this facility is located, with the worst snow storms and strong winds recorded in the last 40 years. The project has provided a boost to the local economy, with Greek companies Faraday and Hitachi participating in the construction and civil works, respectively. In addition, Hitachi was responsible for the electromechanical assembly at the Patriarchis substation, owned by the Greek transmission grid operator (IPTO), which has been completely renovated with a new gas insulation system (GIS) on the outside. In this way, expansion of the substation area and earthworks have been avoided by using the existing vacant land, which has significantly reduced the environmental impact of the construction. In addition, during the implementation of the project, the communications system in the area has been reinforced by means of fibre optics and the installation of new equipment in the adjacent substations, owned by IPTO, which has served to improve the Greek transmission network. The Iberdrola group is currently building three more new wind farms in Greece , which will be added to the 20 sites it already operates in the country. These are the Askio II and III facilities (88 MW) in Kozani, and Rokani (18 MW) in Viotia. The Iberdrola group's pioneering commitment to a sustainable growth strategy based on promoting the electrification of the economy through investment in renewable energies, electricity grids and energy storage has enabled it to become a global energy leader and the first in its sector in Europe by capitalisation, with a stock market value of around 70 billion euros. 08/06/2022Iberdrola encourages participation in the General Meeting with the opening of the Shareholder Service Points today Iberdrola wants to strengthen communication with its more than 600,000 shareholders at the General Meeting on 17 June and, to this end, has today reopened its Shareholder Service Points after two years closed due to the pandemic, with a 50% increase in the number of locations in Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao, Santander, Valencia, Valladolid, San Sebastián and Zaragoza. In all of them, people will be able to delegate, vote and collect a gift for participating from 8 to 16 June. To avoid the digital divide, Iberdrola always has people on hand to attend to shareholders. In addition, this year, in order to encourage participation, the energy company has proposed a gross dividend of €0.005 per share (one gross euro for every 200 shares). If the General Meeting approves this new incentive, which would be regulated in the Articles of Association, and 70% of the quorum is reached, Iberdrola will pay this additional amount to all its shareholders entitled to participate. With this new remuneration, the company is the first and only Ibex 35 company to reward its shareholders in this way at the company's most important event. The engagement dividend is part of a concept of a more participatory, accessible, close, sustainable, and innovative Board of Directors. In this context, Iberdrola recommends that shareholders and their proxy representatives attend telematically or participate remotely prior to the Meeting in order to preserve their health, promote sustainability, and avoid the inconvenience resulting from any measures that may be imposed by the authorities. Wide range of possibilities for participation Iberdrola offers investors a wide range of ways to participate. In fact, it is the first Spanish company to allow its shareholders to exercise their voting rights via instant messaging systems. To vote through this channel, holders of shares will simply have to send an image of their signed proxy and remote voting card by WhatsApp (to the number +34 639 000 639) or by Telegram (to the Junta Iberdrola account). Shareholders who receive the company's card may open a personalised QR code to enter votojunta.iberdrola.com and also vote quickly and easily. In the event that they use the cards sent by the depositary entities, they may enter this same portal with their electronic signature or simply with their share number or their OLA Shareholder Club password. At the same time, an e-mail address Junta2022@iberdrola.es has been set up for shareholders who prefer to send their signed cards via this channel. Another option is to exercise the right to vote by telephone, by calling the toll-free number 900 100 019, or to use the traditional postal service, by sending the original signed voting card to PO Box 1.113, 48080 Bilbao. All shareholders wishing to exercise their proxy or remote voting rights must do so through one of the above-mentioned channels before 24:00 on 16 June, the day before the General Meeting. Shareholders and proxy holders who wish to attend telematically must pre-register on the corporate website from 12 June until 10:00 a.m. on 17 June. Once pre-registration has been confirmed, they may attend the Meeting by registering on the participation portal between 9:00 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. on 17 June. Those who prefer to attend in person should reserve a seat through the Shareholders' Office or the corporate website. Iberdrola fosters fluid and permanent communication with shareholders The Shareholders' Office is the main information channel whose priority objective is to be an open, permanent, and transparent area with all of Iberdrola's shareholders, continuously developing initiatives aimed at strengthening such relationship and allowing them to be constantly informed and to be able to make proposals regarding the management of the company. In this way, the Shareholders' Office serves to respond, at all times, to shareholders' queries, questions or suggestions, through a free telephone helpline (900 100 019) and an e-mail address (accionistas@iberdrola.com), being in contact with shareholders voluntarily registered in its database. In addition, the company has a Virtual Shareholder Assistant (VSA), a chatbot designed to respond immediately to queries about the AGM and to provide all the information and links of interest to facilitate their participation in the event. The OLA Shareholders' Club is located on the website, an interactive system that represents a further step in the direct, fluid, and permanent channel of dialogue that Iberdrola maintains with its shareholders. By registering with this club, shareholders may participate in special leisure activities, events, contests, etc., in addition to being able to publicly or confidentially submit any questions of interest, access frequently asked questions and answers on various topics, and, beginning with the call to the General Shareholders' Meeting, exercise their rights to information, proxy representation, and remote voting, as well as view the live broadcast of the meeting. Iberdrola was the first IBEX 35 company to have a specific mobile application for investors and shareholders: Iberdrola Investor Relations . Investors can consult all relevant information on the economic and financial performance of the company from their mobile devices. They can also use this application to follow the company's results presentations, as well as the holding of the General Shareholders' Meeting. It also offers the evolution of the share price, as well as access to share price graphs. READ MORE

06/06/2022Iberdrola seeks companies to revolutionise the electricity grids of the future Electricity grids are the circulatory system of the new energy model and the essential platform for the transition to a decarbonised economy. Iberdrola is therefore going one step further and is looking for companies to develop more sustainable grids. The company, through its international start-up programme PERSEO , has launched a competition for innovative companies to propose new materials, designs, manufacturing and construction methodologies for electrical substations and very high voltage lines. The electricity system is undergoing an unprecedented transformation and the grids have become a cornerstone of the energy transition ; an essential platform for moving towards a decarbonised economy, which favours the development of an electricity system with more renewable sources, sustainable mobility, smart cities and self-consumption. This initiative is part of Iberdrola's commitment to combat climate change and promote sustainability. The objectives are to optimise the cost of materials and the methodologies currently applied, reduce the environmental impact of the construction of new assets in electricity grids, optimise the cost and time associated with civil works and assembly, and increase the safety and risk prevention of assembly processes. The challenge is launched within the framework of the new smart grid innovation centre, the Global Smart Grids Innovation Hub , which aims to become a global benchmark in smart grids through open collaboration and coworking between technicians from the Iberdrola group's electricity distribution company (i-DE), suppliers, start-ups and different organisations from all over the world. Iberdrola will thus seek new formulas for its extensive network of transmission and distribution power lines, with 1.2 million kilometres spread across the United States, Brazil, the United Kingdom and Spain. Its network consists of more than 4,500 high to medium voltage substations and more than 1.6 million medium to low voltage distribution transformers serving more than 32 million electricity supply points. Proposals that optimise the use of materials in projects - for example, in metallic structures - and civil works, formulas that replace the use of current materials with more sustainable ones, that reduce plant suppression, that contribute to the improvement of soils and to the safety of operations by reducing human intervention, among other initiatives, will be valued. In addition, the company could offer the participant the opportunity to scale up the solution by adopting it through commercial agreements or even invest in the participating company. The deadline for registration for the challenge is 12 June, and the winner will be announced in July. 15 years innovating with start-ups Since its creation in 2008, PERSEO has invested more than 100 million euros in start-ups that develop innovative technologies and business models, focusing on those that improve the sustainability of the energy sector through further electrification and decarbonisation of the economy. The programme has focused its activities on analysing business opportunities and technological collaboration with start-ups and emerging companies around the world, analysing 300 companies each year and creating an ecosystem of almost 7,000 entrepreneurial companies. This investment instrument currently holds a portfolio of eight companies. Through PERSEO, Iberdrola carries out more than 25 real tests of technologies per year, which serve as a first step towards establishing a commercial relationship or partnership with start-ups. In addition, in the last two years the group has launched a total of fourteen challenges in which 700 start-ups have participated. Beyond the financial contribution, PERSEO's support to these companies has been key in defining their product and business, offering them its knowledge and access to Iberdrola's market. On the other hand, the work carried out with the start-ups has served our company as a technological antenna to find out where our sector is heading. READ MORE

02/06/2022Iberdrola plans to invest 6,000 million dollars in the State of New York (USA) over the next 3 years Ignacio Galán today chaired the Board of Directors of Iberdrola USA ( Avangrid ) in Boston (USA), where, among other matters, the investment plan presented by the company's distributors in New York to the state regulator was analysed. This framework will accelerate the investments needed to continue to improve service and drive a grid that is more resilient to extreme weather events, and smarter to integrate the clean energy needed to meet New York's decarbonisation goals. According to the plan, investments could reach close to $6 billion over the next three years, a two-fold increase over the average investments in New York in recent years, which will boost the state's economic development. With this proposal, NYSEG and RGE customers will continue to maintain one of the lowest rates in the state while moving towards a cleaner future. In addition, later this year, Iberdrola USA (Avangrid) will negotiate tariff frameworks for its distributors in the states of Maine, Connecticut and Massachusetts. The investments in this plan will also contribute to the growth of its network business, where it already has assets of approximately USD 12 billion, which it expects to increase to USD 20 billion by 2025, including organic and inorganic growth. This proposal is in addition to Iberdrola USA's (Avangrid) growth plans in the country. Iberdrola has been present in the United States for 15 years, and has assets that today exceed USD 40 billion in 24 states, serving a population of more than 7 million people. Ibrerdrola USA (Avangrid) is listed on the New York Stock Exchange, with a capitalisation of 18,400 million dollars, which would make it one of the 14 largest companies on the Ibex. Today, the company operates 70 onshore wind farms and solar photovoltaic plants, making it the third largest renewable company in the country, with more than 8,000 MW in operation and close to 1,000 MW under construction. Iberdrola USA (Avangrid) is also a pioneer in the development of offshore wind in the USA, with the recent start of construction of the country's first large-scale offshore wind project, Vineyard Wind 1, and has a portfolio of close to 5,000 MW in this technology thanks to the Park City Wind project in Connecticut, Commonwealth Wind in Massachusetts and Kitty Hawk in North Carolina.
