The company has collaborated with technology firm TUAL to install its PowerUp Charger system. The technology is specifically designed for operational environments where there are space or electrical capacity constraints. In addition to facilitating fleet electrification , it also provides greater flexibility thanks to its relocation capability and improves operational resilience by incorporating energy storage that helps keep vehicles available even during power outages. The company uses medium- and long-term weather forecasts alongside AI models to improve energy planning, optimise the operation of its assets and anticipate potential grid incidents. Neoenergia serves over 17 million customers in Brazil – equivalent to around 40 million people – through its five distribution companies: Neoenergia Coelba, in Bahia; Neoenergia Pernambuco; Neoenergia Cosern, in Rio Grande do Norte; Neoenergia Brasilia; and Neoenergia Elektro, which operates in the interior of São Paulo and Mato Grosso do Sul. In 2026 alone, Neoenergia has allocated around 30 million reais to artificial intelligence (approximately 5 million euros), both for the development of new solutions and for the implementation of platforms incorporating this technology. Among its applications is the analysis of thermal images and operational variables to detect patterns that enable the anticipation of grid failures and the carrying out of predictive maintenance, thereby reducing potential outages and their impact on customers. 08/09/2026ScottishPower Energy Networks’ community fund tops €1.8 million in four months The inaugural transmission community benefit fund established by ScottishPower Energy Networks – Iberdrola Group’s network subsidiary in Scotland – to support communities hosting key electricity network infrastructure has already approved more than €1.8 million (£1.6 million) in funding since launching in April. The grants are targeted at local projects across central and southern Scotland in areas including South Lanarkshire, South Ayrshire, Scottish Borders, and Dumfries and Galloway, coinciding with one of the largest network modernisations in decades. The fund aligns with UK Government guidelines ensuring that communities hosting new transmission infrastructure receive long-term, locally managed benefits. In addition to supporting essential services, the fund will finance community, social and environmental projects surrounding new substations and power lines, with funding decisions guided by an independent panel to ensure support aligns with local priorities. The contracts were discussed at today's meeting of the company's Executive Committee of the Board of Directors in Bilbao. The Group has awarded Ingeteam contracts worth €25 million for work on battery energy storage systems (BESS) linked to renewable energy facilities in Spain. This technology is playing an increasingly important role in the electricity system, enabling greater integration of renewable energy while providing additional flexibility to the grid. Iberdrola has also awarded Ormazabal a contract worth almost €5 million for the design, manufacture and supply of two mobile substations to enhance the operational capacity of the electricity network. The equipment will strengthen the network's ability to respond to maintenance work, operational incidents and exceptional demand requirements. The new mobile substations have been designed to provide temporary support to network operations and help maintain continuity of supply under a range of operating conditions. The project is aligned with Iberdrola's objective of strengthening the resilience of electricity networks and equipping them with the capabilities needed to respond to an increasingly demanding and dynamic environment. Ingeteam and Ormazabal bring technological expertise and specialist know-how in key areas that are helping to advance electrification. A report prepared by Mott MacDonald concludes that 99.9% of the materials removed from the facility were recycled or reused, demonstrating the value of applying circular economy principles at the end of the useful life of renewable energy assets. The study highlights that modernising the first wind farms not only makes it possible to increase clean energy generation but also creates opportunities for the local economy and supply chain. In the case of Hagshaw Hill 1, the work has generated contracts for companies in Scotland and other parts of the UK, supporting job creation, the development of new industrial capabilities and the efficient use of resources. The initiative also opens new business opportunities in sectors linked to the reuse of renewable energy components. These include the recycling of wind turbine blades , which can be transformed into new materials for construction and engineering, and helping to reduce waste and the emissions associated with developing new energy infrastructure. Hagshaw Hill 1 , which began operating in 1995, has been replaced by 14 more modern and efficient turbines, increasing the site’s generation capacity to 80 MW, enough to supply electricity to the equivalent of around 57,000 homes per year. Titled An Electrifying Journey: An Iberdrola Immersive Experience , the exhibition will be open to visitors free of charge from 21 September to 20 October at the Palacio de Cibeles in Madrid. The exhibition invites visitors to discover the key milestones that have shaped the history of electrification , from the earliest scientific discoveries to the latest technological innovations, while virtual content offers a glimpse of what the cities of the future will look like in the “age of electricity”. With a strong educational focus, the initiative aims to spark young people’s curiosity about science and technology and inspire the next generation to pursue careers that will see them play a leading role in building this electric future. The public will also be able to explore the role electricity has played in socioeconomic development over the past 125 years through practical examples. The exhibition features historical content and interactive elements exploring the fundamentals of electricity and the evolution of electrical technology. Through immersive spaces, visitors will also be able to experience the profound transformation that electrification is bringing to cities, mobility and industry. Highlights of the exhibition include an immersive audiovisual experience using mixed-reality headsets, a museum featuring original pieces of significant technological and historical value linked to the development of the electricity system, live demonstrations that make electricity visible using a Tesla coil, and educational workshops for students and families.
