IBERDROLA'S HANDBALL LEAGUE
Iberdrola Guerreras League, a dream come true for women's handball
The Iberdrola Guerreras League is the most important women's handball club competition of all those held in Spain. It started in the 1952-53 season and, after a number of name changes (First Division, ABF League, Honour Division...), it became the Iberdrola Guerreras League in 2016.

The 2019/20 Iberdrola Guerreras League kicked off last September, with the clubs Bera Bera and Rocasa Gran Canaria starting as favourites in a championship that is now in its 63rd year.
The collaboration project was first presented by Iberdrola and the Royal Spanish Handball Federation (RFEBM) at the National Sports Council (CSD) on 13 September 2017.
WHAT DOES IBERDROLA'S SUPPORT FOR THE WOMEN'S HANDBALL LEAGUE INVOLVE?
Francisco V. Blázquez, president of the RFEBM, thanked everyone who attended the presentation event and stated that "this is great news for women's handball, a dream we had been looking to fulfil for a long time". He also said that "the Iberdrola Guerreras League means a qualitative leap forward for our sport, thanks to the collaboration of everyone who has participated in the project".
In addition to the change in name, the project guarantees the presence of the Iberdrola Guerreras League on the Teledeporte sports channel (every Friday at 9 p.m.), the best possible showcase to show all sports fans the best side of Spanish women's handball.

ALL-STARS MATCH AND 'IBERDROLA GUERRERA' AWARDS
The agreement between Iberdrola and the REFBM involves organising the All-Stars Match (Partido de las Estrellas). In this encounter a number of players from the national handball team — Carlos Viver's Guerreras — face a selection of players from the League that form the Iberdrola Guerreras team.
Another part of this collaboration is the launch of the Iberdrola Guerrera Awards. The 'Iberdrola Guerrera of the Round', formerly known as the 'Fans MVP', awards the best player of each round of matches in the highest category of Spanish women's handball.
