The Women's Handball League is the most important club competition held in Spain. It started in the 1952-53 season and, after a number of name changes (First Division, ABF League, Honour Division...), it became the Iberdrola Guerreras League in 2016.

The agreement reached between Iberdrola and the Spanish Royal Handball Federation at the end of 2016 makes the company the sponsor of the national women's handball team.
