Iberdrola Group is building a macro offshore wind complex in UK waters: the East Anglia Hub. This undertaking will see the development of four projects capable of delivering total installed capacity exceeding 3.9 GW: East Anglia ONE, which is already in operation, East Anglia ONE North, East Anglia TWO and East Anglia THREE. The work, which represents an investment of GBP 10 billion, began in 2022 and is expected to take four years.

External link, opens in new window. , Iberdrola Group is developing the East Anglia Hub, a macro offshore wind complex that will deliver a combined installed capacity exceeding 3,900 MW. The investment cost will amount to approximately GBP 10 billion. In addition, a new investment package of a further GBP 6 billion – subject to obtaining authorisations – will double renewable generation capacity and boost decarbonisation in the UK.
This power is sufficient to supply clean energy to 3.8 million British homes and represents more than 7.5% of the 40 GW target for offshore wind power set by the UK government for 2030. The East Anglia Hub will make a significant contribution to this goal, supporting green recovery regionally and nationally and helping to meet climate neutrality commitments.
Destined to become the company's biggest offshore wind hub worldwide, it will encompass three new developments that Iberdrola already has in its portfolio in the East Anglia area – specifically, in the southern area of the North Sea: East Anglia ONE North, East Anglia TWO and East Anglia THREE. The offshore wind farms are being developed simultaneously, which will shorten construction and commissioning times, increase opportunities for the supply chain, reduce the cost of clean energy and actively contribute to the country's offshore objectives. Together, they will add more than 3,250 MW of power to that already supplied by the East Anglia ONE wind farm, which is the first in the area and the largest in Iberdrola's history to date.
The East Anglia Hub already has the approval for its 3,900 MW in the UK, with construction having started in 2022 and will be completed in the coming years.

Iberdrola, through its British subsidiary ScottishPower Renewables, is one of the major players in offshore wind energy in the United Kingdom, with projects such as East Anglia ONE and East Anglia TWO in the North Sea, off the coast of Suffolk. East Anglia ONE, operational since 2020, was the largest offshore wind farm built by the company up to that point and has been key to driving forward Europe's offshore wind industry, creating numerous jobs during its construction and throughout its operation and maintenance phase, as well as incorporating environmental protection measures to safeguard marine mammals and birds in the area.
Building on this leadership, East Anglia TWO is currently under construction and will make a significant contribution to the UK's offshore wind energy targets for 2030, also generating a broad industrial value chain and employment across the region. Both wind farms form part of the East Anglia Hub complex, which strengthens Iberdrola's position as a world leader in renewable energy.

Siemens Gamesa, preferred turbine supplier
Iberdrola, through ScottishPower Renewables, has selected Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) as the preferred turbine supplier for the East Anglia Hub. The two companies will work together ahead of the next Contracts for Difference auction, scheduled for the end of the year, with the aim of finalising supply and installation agreements for a new-generation turbine with an individual capacity of 14 MW. This will seek to achieve greater efficiency while creating more opportunities for the supply chain. The potential supply of up to 200 turbines would make it possible to replicate across the rest of the Hub the results achieved at East Anglia ONE, both in terms of job creation and support for the UK supply chain.
In parallel, Iberdrola has reached an agreement with Navantia-Windar for the manufacture of 45 monopiles for East Anglia THREE. The contract will create 450 jobs and forms part of the agreements signed for the installation of the complex’s new offshore wind farms. All manufacturing will take place at the Fene shipyard in A Coruña.
